This year's Oscar goodie bag contained gift certificates representing 100,000 pounds of greenhouse gas reductions... It reminds us of the era when rich Catholics paid the church for "dispensations" that would shorten their terms in Purgatory.

So if I buy a "carbon credit" (and has anyone heard how much these cost???) then I am free to create even more greenhouses gasses? Am I the only one who thinks that these "credits" is just another scam with a scam?
I found my certificates on a thread called Carbon Offsets Cheap. Best thing I ever did. I'm a new man I tell ya. I did not calculate my carbon footprint but I think 100,000 pounds will hold me for the year. If not, I will print more.
Is it like getting divinity credentials from the Universal Life Church?

How, exactly, does buying 'carbon credits' reduce pollution? It's interesting that leftists support a scheme which lets the wealthy to skate all responsibilty by buying what are essentially indulgences. For life of me I don't understand how the liberal house of cards survives all these inconsistencies and double standards.
