South Park: Most Quoted Episodes ("Manbearpig")

For those of you who have not seen this risque "cartoon" series, the Cartoon Network has run some of the "Most Quoted Episodes" of South Park, and one featured Algore in an episode involving "Manbearpig."

Alore comes to South Park to warn the kids about "Manbearpig" (global warming), a mythical creature that he insists exists and wants them to get worked up about. (No one does). The kids only repeatedly say things like, "I feel sorry for him. He doesn't have any friends.") Although no one has ever seen "Manbearpig," or have a shred of proof it exists, Algore (yes, they use his name) tries to drum up a frenzy of concern. In one scene he is in a cave with a tourist group when someone announces the former vice president is in the group. Out of some 30 people, two applaud.

This was a hysterical episode and, I think, is reflective of what an important part of the teen-to-young adult group ingest as humor. It clearly rejects not only global warming, but the notion that Gore or Hollywood elites should dictate what the rest of us do.

Again, if this isn't your taste in humor, no problem. But if you do find stuff like this funny, get the "Manbearpig" episode on DVD.

To be honest, I wasn't all that impressed with that episode as a whole. I did enjoy what they did to portray Algore, however.

Two Days Before The Day After Tomorrow is a much better episode. That one makes fun of the media, The Day After Tomorrow, and global warming loonies all in 30 minutes!

Oh, good, another FreeRepublic South Park love-fest thread. Didn't Ann Coulter's disparaging remark about John Edwards teach us anything? This sort of juvenile humor has no place among conservatives.

This "cartoon" consistently offends the Catholic Church, depicts children cussing, glorifies drunkenness and homosexuality ... all the while holding Al Gore up to be some kind of superhero who destroys an evil monster.

Can someone please remind me while so many so-called "adults" and so-called "conservatives" watch this show?

I loved the "Mystery of the Urinal Deuce" episode this season. In it, they say that 25% of the population is retarded which directly correlates with the percent of the population that believes the 9-11 conspiracy theory.

The episode after the 2000 election Florida debacle was hysterical too. Especially when Mr. Garrison said this to Rosie O'Donut when her nephew tied with Ike for kindergarten president:

"Half the kids in the class didn't vote for your nephew, so what about them? You don't give a crap about them because they're not on your side! People like you preach tolerance and open-mindedness all the time, but when it comes to Middle America, you think we're all evil and stupid country yokels who need your political enlightenment!! Big Gay Al debuted in the first season ("Big Gay Al's Big Gay Boat Ride"), he appeared in several episodes, and he had a decent role in the South Park movie back in 1997. However, he hasn't appeared on South Park since the "Cripplefight" episode in Season Five.

Season 1. Stan's gay dog, Sparky, ran away to "Big Gay Al's Gay Animal Sanctuary". Very funny episode!
