South Park: Most Quoted Episodes ("Manbearpig")
South Park | 3/03/07 | LS

Posted on 03/03/2007 3:58:58 PM PST by LS

Disclaimer: I am not endorsing the language or some of the actions of the cartoon characters on South Park :)

For those of you who have not seen this risque "cartoon" series, the Cartoon Network has run some of the "Most Quoted Episodes" of South Park, and one featured Algore in an episode involving "Manbearpig."

Alore comes to South Park to warn the kids about "Manbearpig" (global warming), a mythical creature that he insists exists and wants them to get worked up about. (No one does). The kids only repeatedly say things like, "I feel sorry for him. He doesn't have any friends.") Although no one has ever seen "Manbearpig," or have a shred of proof it exists, Algore (yes, they use his name) tries to drum up a frenzy of concern. In one scene he is in a cave with a tourist group when someone announces the former vice president is in the group. Out of some 30 people, two applaud.

This was a hysterical episode and, I think, is reflective of what an important part of the teen-to-young adult group ingest as humor. It clearly rejects not only global warming, but the notion that Gore or Hollywood elites should dictate what the rest of us do.

"Can someone please remind me while so many so-called "adults" and so-called "conservatives" watch this show?"

I'm sure that someone beat me to it;
I'm late because its (a bit after) my birthday and the not really step kids cooked hamburgers tonight and gave me "South Park, The Hits/Volume 1".

However, to answer your question...Because its funny - dude.

"I suppose you're going to tell me that you play with toys?"

Do cars and guns count?

(Like I said, I got in late.)

You said "they're both anti-semites." Of course I knew you were referring to Buchanan, but who is the other one? Scarborough or Tancredo?

I don't know which is worse, one who spends a little time watching a satiric cartoon or one who apparently spends a lot of time telling everybody else how stupid they are for watching satiric cartoons and then "researching" said cartoon.

I wonder if Matt and Trey would go after Hillary or Osmara Barek this year

I'd be surprised if they didn't. :)

The show has done more to advance American values than anything else on television. Scientology, environmentalism, homosexual activism, leftist celebrities, Islamofascist fanatics, elitists, nanny-staters, communists, hippies, pedophiles, and moral relativists are constantly being savaged on SP.

You forgot: sanctimonious, self-righteous fuddy-duddies with 2X4's stuck up their bums....

Oh, good, another FreeRepublic South Park love-fest thread. Didn't Ann Coulter's disparaging remark about John Edwards teach us anything? This sort of juvenile humor has no place among conservatives.

South Park is juvenile humor. Ann Coulter deliberately using the word "faggot" is not.

Juvenile humor has a place among juveniles that will be our future voters in the not too distant future.

Last week, my teen-aged daughter told me how one of her teachers was urging her students to watch "Inconvenient Truth". (I advised her to research the currently melting polar ice caps on Mars.) The seed the teacher tried to plant in her head is that Al Gore is our potential savior from a Republican caused catastrophe of Biblical proportions.

Last night, I watched the "Manbearpig" episode with my teen-aged son on TV and he laughed all the way through it. His friend came over when the episode was half over and he was disappointed that he had missed half an episode of South Park. The seeds planted in their heads last night was that Al Gore was an idiotic attention whore.

Three years from now, when they are old enough to vote, they will not automatically swallow Democrat fear-mongering without questioning it first.

Conservatives often underestimate how much power the Left exerts merely by using TV shows and movies to ridicule their political opposition.

In three years, the vote of my 15 year old son and the vote of any of his 15 year old friends will count just as much as your vote.

Think about that and think about how South Park uses juvenile humor to teach juveniles not to swallow the Democrat party line without questioning.

You're kidding right? A non-existent threat to the universe that we must stop before "it's too late."
