"I was going to have a few comments on the other Democratic presidential candidate John Edwards, but it turns out you have to go into rehab if you use the word faggot, so I so kind of an impasse, cant really talk about Edwards," Ann Coulter said today at CPAC. Her audience seemed to to evince both shock and delight.
The Human Rights Campaign's Joe Solomnese was not happy.
To interject this word into American political discourse is a vile and disgusting way to sink the debate to a new, all-time low. Make no doubt about it, these remarks go directly against what our Founding Fathers intended and have no place on the schoolyard, much less our countrys political arena.
Next, there'll be calls for Republican candidates to disassociate themselves from Coulter's remarks. Unfairly, ex-MA Gov. Mitt Romney faces the biggest burden: he spoke right before Coulter and praised her... not knowing what she planned to say.
...honetly, I wouldn't defend that remark...it is so stupid that to address it would be lucicrous....I would just smile and say, "well, it is Ann Coulter after all".... Ann wants a response....the best one is not to give one
You don't seem to understand the word or the tactic of "sandbagging".
Sandbagging is downplaying your abilities or knowledge in a contest or activity in order to deceive someone, to initially play or understand poorly, then hammer the crap out of them after they are baited into the trap.
Ann executed this perfectly when she brought up the four 9/11 widows who were fronting for the rats.
The trap is set for the idiot libs. Round II will come up after they start spewing about how horrible it is that SHE used the word faggot, then expose the prior use by Edwards own people.
Get with the program.
I'm one of those dumb people who doesn't want our side crawling into the gutter with Edwards' blogging divas. You see, I'm a conservative because we hold people to higher standards -- especially those who claim to be conservative.
Little did I understand Coulter's genius in making the entire movement look bad and forcing any decent person to disassociate themselves with not only Coulter, but all of CPAC. I just didn't understand that forcing the news to avoid covering all the great speeches of our presidential candidates was a brilliant tactic. Who wants Russert to cover Hunter or Romney when he could talk about the CPAC faggot conference. That will be the key to winning the middle.
Maybe one day I'll be as brilliant as you. But until then, please keep calling me names. Also, here are a few more ad hominems you can use next time: brainless, dazed, deficient, dense, dim, dodo, doltish, dopy, dotterel, dull, foolish, futile, gullible, half-baked, half-witted, idiotic, ill-advised, imbecilic, inane, indiscreet, insensate, irrelevant, irresponsible, laughable, loser, ludicrous, meaningless, mindless, moronic, naive, nonsensical, obtuse, pointless, puerile, rash, senseless, short-sighted, simple, simple-minded, slow, sluggish, stolid, stupefied, thick, thickheaded, trivial, unintelligent, unthinking, and witless.
You completely missed her mis-calculation. He won't have to defend himself. The MSM will do it for him.
She just put focus on her, the "F"-word and Edwards...and bought time for Hillary and Obama. They will also be "outraged."
Bad move, Ann.
.....well said
I would have thought that 2006 was proof enough that alienating moderates was detrimental to the GOP.
I stand corrected.
I agree with that and it is not necessary. She has about zero class these days but sells books to guys who want to see her picture.
So she has incontrovertible evidence that John Edwards is gay?
If not, then she is nothing but a desperate attention-seeking media whore appealing to the lowest common social denominator.
Y'all apparently don't know that this is a reference to what happened on the set of "Grey's Anatomy".
Couple of weeks ago, an actor on the show "came out of the closet." Rumors of problems between that actor and another actor on the show started to circulate. At the Golden Globe Awards, the actor who was being accused of being "anti-gay" blurted out in the middle of the press conference..."I don't hate fags..." and all hell broke loose in the politically correct roomful of reporters.
The hysteria went on for WEEKS.
Finally, the actor who blurted this out WENT TO REHAB. FOR SENSITIVITY TRAINING. Just a tad over the top, dontcha think? The actor who said it, by the way, was black.
At any rate, THAT is what Ann was referring to. She didn't pull it out of thin air. She was commenting on how ludicrous political correctness has become that one must go to rehab if you dare say anything that would offend anyone....oh, except Christians, of course. Christians you can mock all you want. In fact, you'll get to make all kinds of brownie points, documentaries, you name it, if you tear Christianity apart. No rehab requirement there.
Are they saying that the word "faggot" is not covered by the First Amendement???
She is not remarkably attractive. Even if she were, it is mainly ideology to which fans subscribe.
You're not familiar with Clemensesque speech, are you? You and Joe Solomnese have revealed your lack of command over the intricacies of the English language, when confronted by an example from a past master of same.
You both hit this like like a pike on a kitten... - and the hook's sticking out of your gills...
"I would have thought that 2006 was proof enough that alienating moderates was detrimental to the GOP."

No. It was "alienating" the hard-core conservatives who threw tantrums because the Republican didn't fit their exacting standards of perfection. They were so calculatingly stupid, that they allowed their vote to go uncounted, and bolster one more lib vote without contest.
These were idiots who didn't realize that receiving a little from a Republican is better than having every taken away by a lib. Furthermore, these idiots didn't understand that the only good time to change your race horse is during the Primaries.
Only after that ignorant outburst did he voluntarily enter rehab.
Nice try, though.
Gotta love a woman who shoots straight and calls it like it is.
Very bad taste. Ann sure does push the envelope of what conservatives are allowed to say. The "tolerant" left will predictably call it biggoted--which it isn't in her case--while they turn a blind eye to the Islamic rhetoric promoting the whole sale slaughter of homosexuals.
Y'all apparently haven't read this thread.
This isn't about "Grey's Anatomy." This isn't about two little-twinkie-girl potty-mouth bloggers.
Most of Middle America HAS NO IDEA WHAT YOU ARE TALKING ABOUT.
All they're gonna hear is Ann called Edwards a fag.
You people just don't get it.
Edwards will not have to "defend" anything. The MSM will do that for him. Ann has just bought Hillary and Obama more time, and even THEY will be "outraged."
Ann sucked the CPAC air out of Hunter...and hogged the spotlight for herself.
It doesn't matter how "clever" Ann was...how "inside the Beltway" she was...most people are gonna hear the "F"-word, and that's that.
If I were a Hunter supporter, I'd be furious. She ruined the day.
Women and first-time voters registered as Democrats in record numbers in 2006.
The "conservative" vote was irrelevant in the face of anti-Bush sentiment.
Rehab. For words. Words.
The man had been persecuted for uttering politically incorrect words. For weeks.
Whatever Isaiah Washington said or did, it isn't HALF as bad as ANY of the hate mail I receive when I write columns on the most basic of conservative principles. Should those fools who write that trash go to rehab too? Certainly not.
The more the Republican party panders to the militant homosexual organizations' demands for special rights, the worse off we will be. The day the left is as concerned about changing their tone continually persecuting Christians, I might take their nonstop whining seriously. Until then, I'm not remotely interested in championing the HRC agenda.
Oprah Nation will act very offended, but the better part of humanity does not feel shock and outrage, nor feign disgust like the pacified souls who are guilted into submission every time life's proverbial babies want their diapers changed.
OF COURSE certain people don't want such language and insults used in political debate. It's powerful. It's degrading. It's TRUE.
