Jerry Orbach would have been my first choice, but alas ...
I do hope Fred won't appoint Sam Waterston to the Supreme Court, though.
Me 2! ROFL!
Addressed in #894
I think you may be creating a flimsy argument .. and you just may be totally hung up on that one issue.
With all due respect, the First Amendment is not just an "issue." Many folks oppose McCain solely for his activism in McCain-Feingold-Thompson. If that's not enough of a litmus test, McCain should be suitable for any Thompson supporter.
I don't like McCain-Feingold, but before it was voted in .. there was no huge hue and cry against it.
Not so. If you follow the history of it, McCain-Feingold-Thompson was controversial from its beginning in 1995. Even McCain realized it was too extreme, and watered it down over the years to what eventually became signed into law.
Remember, Bush campaigned against campaign finance reform in 2000. When he did sign the bill into law, he stated his hope that the courts would strike down its unconstitutional measures (which they did not do).
Conservative organizations such as the NRA and pro-life groups campaigned heavily against CFR for years before Bush signed the bill, and were dismayed when he signed it.
I won't be swayed by your argument .. maybe others will. Whom are you supporting?
That's fine. I respect your opinion.
I don't have a favorite yet, though I do like some of what I see and hear from some of the so-called "lower-tier" candidates. Waiting for the debates, and hoping to be impressed.
FRegards, and best of luck.
I doubt Fred Thompson would appreciate that characterization of John McCain.
Thanks for your comments. Could be me, but I don't recall an outcry near what it is since its passage, but I was traveling a lot and couldn't be as engaged.
I'll be voting for the GOP candidate in 2008, whoever that is, and doing all I can to prevent HRC or any of her ilk from regaining (or gaining) residence at the WH, and I want to see FR to survive and thrive.
Then Fred just plain doesn't know the truth!
I don't see a problem. Where did I say that I did?
That's wishful thinking, but I suppose it's natural to project on our favorite politicians our best hopes, whatever the facts may be.
To each his own. Good luck.
I was following the thread of the conversation. Gene Eric in post# 759, was answering someone else who had said "He's got a woman problem!" He asked for clarification.
Where upon you answered with a rather detailed documentation of his 2nd marriage and children by his first marriage. Perhaps it was the tone of the thread I followed - or the lack of any, "hey, a guys got a right to remary after (whatever it was)7 years", in your post.
I just got the impression you disapproved. Sorry if my reading between the lines was off the mark.
Hardstarboard
Full agreement. The hunger for Reagan leadership is so strong, it's easy to project on politicians the qualities we hope they possess. Campaign finance reform is a show-stopper, whether it be by McCain or Thompson.
The search continues.
And I think Thompson is,unlike McCain, in possesion of all his marbles.
Pretty much!
He certainly is easy to listen to.
Love the accent.
"Thompson, 59, has known Kehn, 35"
She meets the 1/2 age + 7 years requirement.
Wouldn't that be the 'Hunter-Thompson' ticket? .............. FRegards
Fred, just a little advice - get a modest beauty makeover, but don't become a prissy little dandy if you do. Hair Club for Men without getting carried away, a slight tan, otherwise all in all, you're a nice looking guy - but a bit too macho about appearance . . take a lesson from Nixon's history of refusing to wear a little makeup in a debate (JFK took him to the cleaners).
Disregard this at your peril!
Thanks for the *PING*~!
Looks Presidential to me!
It doesn't seem like many caught the source of your post, or if they did, they didn't feel like making a comment. Myself, I've always liked this one:
Give me a ping, Vasili. One ping only, please.
