March 17th will see the AntiWar crowd returning to Fayetteville, NC for their yearly rally at Rowan St. Park. We are planning to Freep them from our usual spot across the street. The permit has been obtained. Our time will start at 11am and run until whenever. If you cannot make it to DC, then please come and join us. Bring a chair and any snacks or drinks you might need.
Things should be interesting. Read the following from our local paper.
---------------------
Ricky Clousing, a former Fort Bragg paratrooper who served three months in confinement for going AWOL over objections to the Iraq war, will speak at an annual peace rally in Fayetteville.
Clousing was a military intelligence interrogator who disappeared from Fort Bragg in June 2005 after a five-month deployment to Iraq. Fourteen months later, he turned himself in to military authorities and was embraced by the anti-war movement.
Clousing said he could no longer be a part of what he described as atrocities he witnessed in Iraq. He pleaded guilty to going AWOL and, in addition to confinement, received a bad-conduct discharge.
Anti-war groups that organize the local rallies say people with military ties, such as Clousing, make a convincing argument for bringing troops home from Iraq.

Here is an article that was in a local weekly here. The antiwar crowd was reported on and two FR members were interviewd, one by phone and the other sent an email to the author.

Thank you, sir!!
I'll try to make it, but I might have to work.
:)
Although the UCMJ might forbid them from showing up in uniform...
Yes, Bragg is the home to the 82nd.
We have had some active duty soldiers show up in years past, but I don't think they were allowed to go in uniform.
No, they can't be there in uniform. I don't know that they are supposed to be there at all. I do know that their family members can.
I always thought that the UCMJ allowed active duty members of the Armed Forces to take part in various types of political activities...while on their own time and while not on US Government property.Regulations may also require that said members of the Armed Forces not be in uniform while engaging in such activities.
I certainly could be wrong here.I'm not a lawyer,it's been almost 35 years since I've been subject to the authority of the UCMJ and while I was subject to it I never engaged in anything even resembling "political" activities.

Exit 87/401 at Hay street. Turn right on Hay street.
(Since the police usually have Woodside Ave. blocked, stay on Hay street for approximately 5 blocks.)
Left on Bragg Blvd.
Left on West Rowan street.
The park will be on the left, in past years I have parked in a dirt lot across the street from the park. (The north side of Rowan street.)
Our spot is across Woodside Ave. from the park near the corner of Woodside and W. Rowan.
You are right. soldiers have the right to participate, but NOT in uniform. That holds true only in America. While overseas, however, they can be forbidden to participate and so can their family members. I was going nuts in Germany when we could not counter the anti war moonbats there. We were literally told that photos would be taken of the crowd and we had better not be there no matter which side of the argument we were presenting. It has to do with following force protection regulations overseas.
The lefties will be marching up Hay St. so that will likely be blocked unless you get there early.
The dirt lot where we used to park is now a construction site. It will not be available. I would suggest parking at the Mental Health building at the corner of Bradford Ave and Hay St. There is also parking along Bradford Ave. Do NOT park at the Museum of the Cape Fear. They are open on Saturdays and we would interfere with their patrons. There are a couple of doctor's offices in what look like houses next to the Mental Health building. If they are not open for business, try parking there also.
Hope y'all have a good turnout! We will miss you in DC.
I remember when "Ain't Fonda Jane"and her commie friends used to show up Downtown (back in the Nam era) and try to get any military people to join in the "Fun"! She was laughed at and ridiculed, lucky she didn't catch on fire cause none of us would have pi--ed on her to put it out. What a P.O.S. she was and still is!
I live in Fayetteville. made it to rally every year with my family. We will be there to show our support. Bringing many with us! Looking forward to seeing you guys there! These protestors disgust me.
