“Shame on us if we don’t do something to get a handle on what is the principal form of identification used in this country.”

So said Homeland Security secretary Michael Chertoff yesterday in defense of the REAL ID Act, signed by the president in 2005. The act set federal minimum standards that state driver’s licenses must meet by May 2008 if they are to be accepted for federal purposes (e.g., at airport security screening). States will have to verify identity documents presented by license applicants, check applicants’ immigration status, and place security features in licenses in order to prevent tampering and protect privacy

Jacobus Lambertus Lentz, collaborated with the Nazis in 1941 to improve the existing ID cards and data processing systems.

August 17 (1941), Lentz devised a unique tamper-proof personal identification card that could not be forged. Translucent inks were employed to print key words that disappeared under a quartz lamp. The stamp franking was acetone-soluble. Photos of the individual were affixed front and back through a window transparently sealed and adhered with permanennt glue. A fingerprint of the person's right index finger was then impressed upon one of the photos so it always displayed through a small window. The individual's signature on watermarked paper completed the document, which included personal details.

Having created an ID Card, Lentz then anticipated the occupying Nazis demands for censuses and lists of Jews and non-Jewish slave labourers (categorised by skills and education), which were used for the mass arrests and deportations, through his IBM Hollerith punched card analyses.

First we need to stop "The Enemy Within."

DMV Workers Charged With Selling Licenses To Illegal Immigrants
The Associated Press
4/29/2005 8:05:00 AM

Federal authorities say thousands of illegal immigrants have obtained driver's licenses in Maryland, Michigan and Florida.

So far, 58 people face charges.

In the Florida case, 52 people were arrested in a bribery scam that put driver's licenses in the hands of at least 2,000 illegal immigrants. Others arrested include an employee at Michigan's secretary of state office and an office worker at Maryland's Motor Vehicle Administration. A Homeland Security Department official says there's no evidence of any terrorist connection.

The arrests highlight a security hole that the September 11th hijackers exploited. Eighteen of the nineteen hijackers had valid driver's licenses or state-issued ID cards.

One Case Turned Over To U.S. Attorney

POSTED: 12:29 pm CDT August 12, 2006

MADISON, Wis. -- Two state transportation workers are in trouble Saturday morning for allegedly issuing dozens of fraudulent driver's licenses and state ID cards over several months.

Authorities said the two workers, who were in separate offices, were arrested near the end of the week. One was turned over to the U.S. Attorney's Office. Dane County prosecutors are handling the other case.

The workers are expected to be charged in the coming week.

Gary Guenther, director of the DMV's field services bureau, said an investigation began after DMV officials noticed irregularities in driver's licenses and ID cards.

Investigators said they determined that each suspect had issued about 40 fraudulent cards for which applicants had failed to provide proper identification.

Yeah! Let's just keep on letting people wander around collecting benefits and voting in elections with no way of proving their citizenship!

Hell....they won't do anything. It takes a committee to form a committee to see if they really need a committee that decides if a committee can solve the problems. This is why they need all the pay raises they get so they can justify these committee's.

We had so many people in Hudson County NJ selling IDs, that the state had to nullify existing birth certificates from Hudson County. Anyone born there has to go to Trenton for a reissue.

I don't like the idea of a National ID to start with, but what a cluster-puck it'll be if rammed through.

Look at the corruption you and I found within minutes of looking. I'm sure that's just the TIP of the fraudulent ID iceberg.

Since those making this policy are:

- complicit in creating the mess

- profiting from the solution

We need to clean house of these people before we fix anything.

The ACLU and its fellow-travelers on the right

A cheap shot from the effete masters of the cheap shot at NRO.

These cards are coming, get used to it. Once the technology was developed it was probably inevitable, but foolish immigration policies have pushed them forward by several decades. Since the '65 immigration act we've become the colony of the world making it easy for terrorists and criminal gangs to hide among the blade runner population; when you choose multiculturalism you must purchase it with freedom.
