With 71 of 75 precincts reporting, Giuliani had garnered 123 votes. California Rep. Duncan Hunter was running in second place, with 110 votes, and Arizona Sen. John McCain at 86 votes, according to county GOP officials.
Former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney had 59 votes, Kansas Sen. Sam Brownback had 68 votes and Arkansas Gov. Mike Huckabee rounded out the front-runners, with 18 votes.

Are you aware of the fact that Hunter wants to outlaw birth control pills and claims that any woman who takes them is having an abortion with each pill she takes?

I find it interesting that tonight we're having a war of words and such intense analysis and emphasis about a limited straw poll that probably 90% of the country will never even hear about!
I suggested Blackirish post as new thread. Personally, I'd like to see it in Breaking News, but doubt that would last. ;^)
I, for one, would LOVE to see it in breaking news, but I'm just keeping my fingers crossed that the posts about this are not deleted.
If Hunter adds 2 paid campaign staff, I think he could have picked up that 6 vote differential. But that's a lot of money to spend for 6 votes. Looks like Hunter spends money very wisely.
And Rudy spent almost nothing, on this straw poll.
When I heard about a straw poll in S.C., my first thought was Rudy Guiliani would probably come in 3rd or 4th. That is the expectation reading this forum had given me. His win there is quite an accomplishment, especially with so little effort on his part and in one of the states least likely to support him.
I heard it on Hannity&Colmes. Perhaps there is a transcript on the FNC site.
Well, there's the fact that he said that he considered Ginsburg on the same level as Alito and Scalia.
And seriously, I'm getting tired of the "not voting for Rudy is the same as voting for Hillary" angle. We're not even at the primaries yet.
But how much national name recognition does Rudy Giuliani have compared to Duncan Hunter? How much mainstream media attention?
That counts for a lot.

I would suggest you stop claiming it until you can prove it.
I certainly agree that if these anti-Rudy folk such as we are seeing here demonstrate in the primary process that they are 1/3 of the voters and that they are irreconcilable, that Rudy might need to step aside.
But I don't think they are 1/3 of the Republican electorate. I don't even think they are 1% of the Republican electorate, which is why they are so loud and vituperative right now.
Nobody in politics hates Rudy more that Reverend Al.
