The present-day Sanhedrin Court decided Tuesday to purchase a herd of sheep for ritual sacrifice at the site of the Temple on the eve of Passover, conditions on the Temple Mount permitting.
The modern Sanhedrin was established several years ago and is headed by Rabbi Adin Steinsaltz. It claims to be renewing the ancient Jewish high court, which existed until roughly 1600 years ago, and meets once a week.
Professor Hillel Weiss, a member of the Sanhedrin, told Haaretz on Tuesday that the action, even if merely symbolic, is designed to demonstrate in a way that is obvious to all that the expectation of Temple rituals will resume is real, and not just talk.

Several years ago, a number of members of the various Temple movements performed a symbolic sacrifice on Givat Hananya, which overlooks the Temple Mount from Jerusalem's Abu Tur neighborhood. During the ceremony, participants sacrificed a young goat that was donated by a resident of Tekoa. The participants also built a special two-meter tall oven, in accordance with halakha (Jewish law).

The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise. In your good pleasure make Zion prosper; build up the walls of Jerusalem.
Then there will be righteous sacrifices, whole burnt offerings to delight you; then bulls will be offered on your altar.

Although most sacrifices today are not performed because they can only be offered at the Temple, which has been destroyed.
The Pesach sacrifice is different, in that it may be offered anywhere within the ancient limits of Jerusalem, not only at the Temple. However, this custom is not usually observed, in deference to the destruction of the Temple.

I wondered how the Antichrist was going to force Israel to stop it's animal sacrifices, because Israel stopped doing it a long time ago.
This is fulfilling another prophecy.

Alouette,
I am a Christian on your ping list who loves Israel and the Jewish people. This question isn't meant to stir up any kind of discord. I'm just interested in your answer. Do most Jews believe that the Temple will be rebuilt?

What is your take on the Pres of Isreal letting the King of Jordan build another minorette on the Temple mount? I have been waiting to hear when Isreal is going to be allowed to build their temple on the temple mount, has to be built before HE can come back.
One scenario, the King of Jordan gets permission to build the minorette and he decides that Isreal should build their temple instead, so there can be peace in the land.
The king of Jordan, has a blood line related to King David and Mohammed, could be be the peacemaker?

The liberal Antichrist will put an end to the sacrificial system during the Tribulation (Dan. 9:27, 11:31, 12:11).
("he shall cause the sacrifice and the offering to cease")
The temple will be rebuild at the times of the Antichrist. (Quotations: Matthew 24:15, "When ye therefore shall see the abomination of desolation, spoken of by Daniel the prophet, stand in the holy place, (whoso readeth, let him understand:)
(" 2 Thessalonians 2:3, "...that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4 Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God".)

The king of Jordan, has a blood line related to King David and Mohammed, could be be the peacemaker? He has to come from the revived Roman Empire. Many feel this is the EU. It would make sense to have a man with both Jewish and Muslim blood, though. He could talk a good line, and the Antichrist will be known for his oratory skills. He will be able to parse his words and deceive many.
AND....he has to be a "self appointed king." So, he can't be elected. The present king, Abdullah , rules as an absolute monarch.

The present-day Sanhedrin Court decided Tuesday to purchase a herd of sheep for ritual sacrifice at the site of the Temple on the eve of Passover, conditions on the Temple Mount permitting.I'll pop some popcorn and watch to see if God permits this blasphemous act of contempt towards His Son's atoning work. I'd think that tolerating an obsoleted temple shambles for a 40-year generation was gracious plenty forbearance on the Almighty's part.

Do most Jews believe that the Temple will be rebuilt? Orthodox Jews (and "officially" Conservative Jews) believe and pray daily the Temple will someday be rebuilt.
Reform Jews do not believe the Temple will be or should be rebuilt, this was one of the first doctrines rejected by them.
