From the ANSWER website regarding a permit needed for their March 17 2007 anti-war demonstration/march from the Vietnam Memorial (Constitution Gardens)to the Pentagon:
"The State of Virginia Department of Transportation finally met with us last Thursday afternoon, February 22. At that meeting they demanded that we obtain one million dollars in insurance, hire an engineering firm to determine their traffic and road closure plan, and agree to pay a user fee of thousands and possibly tens of thousands of dollars for before we will be given a permit to march on Route 27 on the way to the Pentagon. We are talking about a stretch of highway under Virginias jurisdiction that is about 100 yards long. . . . . We need everyones help in two areas:
One thing you can do is to provide political support for the public Free Speech campaign. We are mounting a large scale legal and political effort to secure our rights. We have the best constitutional rights attorneys assisting us and we hope everyone will read the letter below from the Partnership for Civil Justice to Virginias Attorney General." Hey Junior, grow up bozo.
Liberals do not respect my right to be treated equal under the law, nor do they respect my rights to keep and bear arms, and they promote racism.
I do not respect their rights to free expression or to life liberty or the pursuit of happiness.
My young friend, those riots then, and all the campus protests were joined because no one stopped them, because it was the cool thing to do, because those kids were doped up and stupid.
Letting them do it with no opposition sends them the message that we agree with them.
The greatest mistake the WWII generation made in the 60's was not machine gunning down the hippies in the streets when they protested.
That you people are too stupid to see that you are mimicking the liberals you so despise sickens me to no end. In the eight years I've been on this forum I've seen it steadily go downhill. Now it's the mirror-image of DU. Thank you.
Peeeeeee Uuuuuuuu
Good Grief.
There is so much naivete in that sentence I wouldn't know where to begin - (I'm being kind in laying it to naivete)
"we all"? Maybe "you all" = maybe folk who have been schooled to believe the "journalists and historians" as the ultimate truth purveyors...maybe 'you all' who have not learned how to do independent research on a subject before reaching a conclusion then presented as fact that EVERYONE must 'rely on'
One area of independent research might be talking with people who were there when - the Vietnam protests weren't ancient history - there are plenty of folk around.
Another angle might be to research just who funds these groups. The information is there...for anyone brave enough or honest enough to look into it.
Look to the "journalists and historians" for the truth? Those are some pretty big blinders...

Perhaps, I did not express myself well enough, when I said we all have to rely on jounalists and historians for information about events of which we do not have first hand knowledge.
What I was trying to say is
WHEN we do not experience an event personally
BEWARE of where we obtain our information
BECAUSE we can never automatically trust those who write about it.
I lived through the sixties as an adult, and was responding to someone born in the sixties who said he or she had read about the times.
I did not mean to imply that we have to accept what historians say, and I used the example of those same anarchist/hippie/anti-draft protesters being today's textbook writers and publishers.
Sorry my words "rely on" seemed to have an alternate meaning to you, I assure you that critical thinking is my middle name. LOL! Perhaps clear writing is not my strength.
Yes, let's stop them from getting their stinkin' permit and prove their Nazi caricatures of us absolutely true.
A pox on blocking permits. You won't get my support on this one.
Well, I think it kinda "sucks rocks to tolerate" traitors and fifth columnists, which is what the groups sponsoring this anti-American rally are. If LEGAL means can be used to block their rally, I say go for it. And the voters of Virginia certainly have a say in how their tax dollars are spent; why should those citizens foot the bill for police overtime and traffic control for disruptions caused by this rally?
Then perhaps our government should grow a set and arrest these pricks for treason, rather than block a demonstration.
Your mama wears army boots!
Yo mama so ugly, etc., etc...
HEY! Whadda you mean "etc., etc."?! Take it back!
You started it...
Too many Freepers lately don't know what a "fact" is. You appear to be one of those Freepers.
I know you are, but what am I?
NEENER, NEENER!
Wow. I'm speechless.
