It's a great racket - I think I'm going to start a business like this, to get paid for *not* doing something. Al Gore's family were farmers, so they know all about getting paid not to do something.

[. . .instead he pays someone else to do it...but they aren't actually reducing anything either, they just aren't using the average amount. It's all a bogus shell game.]
Exactly. It's like the farm subsidies to farmers who don't plant and probably wouldn't be growing anything anyway.

"He has said that families and organizations are going to use different amounts of energy, and they should first determine their carbon footprint"
Oh, so big people can use lots of energy and little people use a little energy?

"Al Gore graduated from Harvard cum laude in 1969 (although he earned several Cs and a D during his time in Cambridge)...he enrolled in Vanderbilts prestigious divinity school, where, over the course of three semesters, he failed five of his eight classes."
From a site that lists Divinity School Drop-outs. Also on the list Michael Moore, Cassanova, Tom Cruise and Josef Stalin.

How were his grades at Yale? Does anyone know? He just seems to nutty to me. I can't seeing him a good student.
As I recall, his grades were pretty bad. In fact, I think he dropped out of Yale, and entered a Divinity School, where he then flunked out. Someone please correct me if I have my facts wrong.

Al should work on his personal carbon footprint. As fat as he is, I'm sure he's over the average for carbon monoxide emittance.

"Using Gore's fresh win as a backdrop, the new report said Gore's energy consumption jumped by about 14 percent in a year. The Gore household averaged 16,200 kWh per month in 2005, and 18,400 kWh per month in 2006.
"The report also said that the Gores' natural gas bills for his mansion and guest house averaged $1,080 per month last year."
---<>---<>---<>---<>---
What a hypocrite.
This fool uses more ELECTRICITY per MONTH than I've used in the last two YEARS!!!
In addition, it is certain that his jetting around from coast to coast to country to country burns more fuel than I've used in the past TEN years... indeed, possibly more than I've burned in my car for my whole lifetime! In addition, if you included the fuel for his entourage and the puppydog reporters who follow him around, it is likely that it totals more than my whole community requires per year.
---<>---<>---<>---
Of course there's this wonderful line from his "spokesman" (who burns even more fuel, no doubt): "... the 60- to 70-year-old house is undergoing renovations to add solar panels to reduce consumption off the power grid, and energy-efficient windows have been installed. The home also uses "compact" fluorescent light bulbs and other energy-saving technology,..." ... Johnny come lately to this !!!??? Why, if he is so concerned about "the environment" and his "carbon footprint" did he WAIT SO LONG before doing this?
I'll tell you something else: If you looked down at his mansion in the evenings, I'd bet anybody REAL money that he's got a whole load more lighting in use than I do... in fact, if he's even got ONE FLOODLIGHT on his property, he's probably using more electric for light than I do.
Hypocrite.

Gore is a hypocrite. He uses too much time, energy and effort to refute his junk science; one wonders how much carbon could be saved by him stopping with his propaganda campaign.

Just how many houses does algore have and how many square feet do these houses (assuming he has more than one) have?
A family of,say,6 can live *quite* comfortably in a house of,say.2,300 square feet.
Somehow,I see algore and his wide bodied bride living in three houses of 8,000 sq ft each....which would certainly leave a huge "carbon footprint".

Al Gore's family were farmers, so they know all about getting paid not to do something.
In fact, the man who paid Al Gore's family to "do nothing" was Armand Hammer, a known Soviet-Sympathizer who moved to the Soviet Union and made a fortune there.

Bush ranch in Crawford is spartan and "green" Closet environmentalists act out of their own conservatism. They do it because they want to, not so they can throw it into everyones faces.

This guy's whole life has been full of nothing but hypocrisy: his father's vote against the Civil Rights Bill, his attempt to use his sister's cancer in his campaign, his family's tobacco farming, his owning shares in Occidental Oil Company, a company that has been clearing the rain forests, his tenants having to publicly complain about the failure of Al to fix problems in the house they rent from him, his elderly dog being found wandering around aimlessly in Washington, DC shortly after they moved there, his taking illegal funds during a visit to a Buddhist Temple, his making illegal phone calls from his White House office because there was "no controlling legal authority"...need I go on?
