NEW YORK (CNN) -- These days, it seems as if it is good politics for conservatives to address the annual convention of gay Republicans.
"Keep pushing the Republican Party because you're pushing it in the right direction," New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani told the Log Cabin Republican convention over the weekend.
That is a far cry from the 1992 Republican convention, when the party's far right wing attacked the gay community.
"Bill Clinton and Al Gore represent the most pro-lesbian and pro-gay ticket in history," said Pat Buchanan at the 1992 GOP convention.
The convention crowds responded with enthusiasm. But now, some Republican candidates are taking a less confrontational approach.

I have no problems with adults choosing their own relationships, but what does Rudy mean by this? He is cited with wanting to allow gays to openly serve in the miltary. Food for thought.

IMO, I could care less if gays openly serve in the millitary. I don't know what the impact would be, that's why I support leaving the decision up to Defense Leadership.
I don't know much about the Log Cabin republicans, I might head over to their website and see where they stand. If they are republicans in every other way but just support things like civil unions, and domestic partner benefits then I could care less and would say welcome to the club. If they support federal gay marriage legislation that is a very very different story.

Agree with them or be guilty of an "attack." Oh brother. Quite frankly I think it is most unloving to aid someone who is harming themselves, making a fool of themselves, or just flat doing something disgusting.
When the GOP is pro-gay then I will consider myself no longer a member.

It would stink if it were an isolated statement and out of character. If you support Rudy and the gay agenda, then its no skin off your nose.

You've got to go back to an article quoting Pat Buchanan to slam Rudy?
Try harder next time.

DON'T let anyone make you think homosexuals are synomous with Log Cabin Republicans! They are NOT. Log Cabin Republicans are SDS! They are funded by Soros just as the Victory Funds are funded by Soros.
Rudy still IS a Log Cabin Republican:

You are not the only one. The GOP can kiss a lot of us goodbye.

I emphasized RUDY'S DIRECT QUOTE. Defind it, or ignore it. Your choice. Buchanan is an idiot and no even a member of the GOP anymore.

I don't even care that the Log Cabin Republicans exist. I will care if we start catering to gays or minorities or any supposed group claiming they are being discriminated against.

Gay Republicans Seek RecognitionI'm pretty sure I could recognize them...They'll be the ones at the convention wearing the black leather short-shorts and fabulous pink cowboy hats.

Ya'll need to coordinate better. One of your own stated Pat thought Rudy would be a good Pres. Fact of the matter, the RNC, if they should nominate Rudy, would send Conservatives down a road We do not wish to travel.

It depends on what you characterize as "The Gay Agenda"
I do not support gay marriage, I used to I admit it but I no longer do. I do not support a amendment to the constitution unless SCOTUS is up to no good and decides to find a RIGHT to gay marriage. Otherwise, it is a state issue just like abortion used to be and still should be and in time will be.
I do think employers should have the right to not higher a gay person if it offends them. I would support a 'dont ask dont tell' policy in the work place though. Someones bedroom life should be kept out of the workplace.
I don't have a problem with gay adoption as long as they are the best candidate interested in the child. Preference should always go above all else to married, stable, heterosexual couples.
I am in favor of state and local level domestic partnership agreements. It is not the same as marriage, one is recognized by the government and the government only, the other is recognized and blessed by god.
I am against hate crimes legislation in all forms and not just for gays as all crimes are committed in hate and not to mention it could lead to the authoritarian freedom of speech stripping racism courts that have been set up in S. Africa. If their is some concerted effort by a group to harass, assault, or kill a minority group, the RICO statute could roll up those hate groups.
Otherwise, I think ones bedroom life is between them and God.
