This movie is moving around the country. They are sometimes having discussions after it. I think that anyone who thinks they know what happened at Waco has another thing coming.

Horiuchi, Sniper for the BATF
Btw, he was there for Waco and at Ruby Ridge.
Most of the bureaucrats that ran the Gorelick wall had to have a reason why they didnt pass on information. Waco was that reason.
At the time of the Weaver-Harris Ruby Ridge trial NPR (!) ran a story about Horiuchi's scrapbook of kills where he posed with the corpses. Since he was unable to pose with Vicky Weaver's corpse he had his picture taken at the plywood cabin holding up one of Mrs Weavers dresses.
. . . was for the purpose of demonizing the Davidians and turning them into a dangerous cult to deaden the public conscience. It worked! . . . At least long enough to allow the operation to be carried out.
Those whom the gummint destroys, it first must demonize.
Especially those who think we don't need assault weapons for "hunting". We need them in case WE become the hunted, by a tyrannical government.
I'm not even sure of that. I think they would buy more taxes if sold by the "right" nominee who will make those dreadful wing-nut whackos in fly-over country pay more too, as well as force their horrid religion to go underground, take away their guns and property, keep abortion and maybe a little infanticde legal, etc.
Firearm merchants are controlled and regulated versus an individual or individuals organized with tons of firearms. Good book to read is called "Coup d'etat" by Luttwak. It argues why attempts by individuals to organize private militias will be met by government action to break it up due to internal security concerns. Modern governments (free or unfree) will never tolerate private militias.
I have that one and "Waco: A new revelation." I do not have the third McNulty movie but would love to obtain a copy.
David Koresh felt that one day the government will come after his group, so he had his people train in the usage of firearms and conducted some "military" maneuvers on his ranch compound. I remember seeing footages of home movies showing some of these activities. However, all of it is LEGAL but in the eyes of any modern government it is ALARMING. Otherwise why would the government have a hard on for the Branch Davidians purchase and selling of guns in the open and in accordance with the law???
Never forget UpChuckie Schumer's participation in the coverup.
That's when I really started to despise him. The Putz has done nothing since to change my mind. My contempt of him has only deepened.
Indeed. Also what happened at Ruby Ridge was very disturbing. I do not in anyway support what happened at WACO. But I also think that memories of Jim Jones and The People's Temple mass murder in Guyana spurred the Government's responses and fears.
But no matter the whys, the hows of the end of the seige at WACO is inexcusable. From what I have read Koresh was preparing to come out. It was the government acting in bad faith that created the stalemate.
All those lives lost how useless and sad.

How many guns can a FFL own ? 200 ? 1000? 5000? How many guns can a citizen own? 1 ? 5 ? 25 ? 100 ? 200 ? 1000 ? Correct me if I'm wrong but I read that
Koresh was licensed FFL and attended
gun shows in Waco and was personally
know by the Sheriff as a dealer.
The clintons reached for "right wing Christian militias" just about every time something went wrong, if not a militia then a "right wing anti-abortion fanatic". Branch Davidians could be posed as both.
The government (I don't even assign this to an administration - just "the government") wanted to see if the public would accept such force against a "domestic threat". Obviously, the public did accept it. Note that they'd got by with Ruby Ridge before, but that was merely an ambush.
(The blinding failure to provide any proof of the many bizarre charges - including the hundreds of automatic rifles - also shows me that the public is capable of accepting any comforting rationalization for government force.)
Clinton needed a diversion weekly for most of his term, this covered several weeks.
Presumably, a few ex-body guards needed special handling but I'm not convinced of that one.
Although I personally think that Elian Gonzalez' return to Cuba was the correct move (not the method but the return itself), that also indicates that the clintons never shied away from using force; it was not out of character.
In part because I think Iraq was intended as a message to the rest of the middle-east - I also wonder who else the administration wanted to show that they were willing to take extreme action to put down those who displeased them?
(Sorry that took so much space, be thankful I didn't stretch it to include FRY/Kosovo)
In the film, Reno is shown before the commission saying that having National Guard heavy armor was "like having a good rental car", and then chuckling. It was a bizarre statement, and even the panel members were incredulous.
yes it is- I am sorry I am at work or i would find ytou some links- but look for Mia T.'s work (here) and google search - i am sure you will find loads of info
Don't forget they got rid of a few clintoon bodyguards at this fiasco too
but you are missing SO MUCH in this story... David Koresh came into town on a regular interval, often at the simple request of the local sherriff.
Why didnt they simply ask him to come down and arrest him then? Why did they burn down their home with children inside?
Answer: Several former clintoon bodyguards were killed at that fiasco- by 'friendly fire' too
