Libby (Trial) Update {Juror Dismissed From Case }
NRO (The Corner) ^ | 2/26/07 | Byrion York

Not sure what this means — but we've just gotten an announcement that the parties in the Libby trial have been asked to come to the courtroom at 9:45 this morning. Could be some sort of inquiry, or it could be bigger.

My prediction:

"Your honor, we are helplessly deadlocked and one of the jurors wants to be out of here by noon to listen to Rush, so just call a hung jury already"

Thanks. For those who forget, the goal in this mess was to have President Bush and VP Cheney taken away from the White House in handcuffs and in a process that ignores all laws, Kerry would be installed as President. The left's next choices in this twisted scenario would be Bill Clinton followed by Al Gore.

And where exactly does that leave the Queen? It is her turn, you know.

what other thread?

FNC now talking about alternate jurors. my bet is that they are trying to swap in an alternate to get the conviction, and this "received outside information" stuff is a ploy to toss the holdout.

If a juror has been tainted, that will be bad for Libby, IMO. Most information out there suggests that the prosecution hasn't made the case convincingly.

If a mistrial occurs, will Fitzgerald re-try? Wonder if he will talk to the jurors to see how they were leaning?

Personally, at this point, I think a 1 day verdict favored Libby heavily. The longer it goes, that means they are looking for a reason to change on or two holdouts to guilty on one of the charges.

The jury is going to acquit and apologize to Libby and call for the indictment of Fitzgerald. (Nutroots - right hand style)

Somehow, someway... it appears this farce of a trial was doomed to not have a clear verdict much as it didn't have a clear crime at the outset of the original investigation.

I believe that the great piece of evidence denied this juror was the female reporter (MItchell?), a colleague of Russert, who initially disputed Russert's memory. I believe the defense was barred from broaching that subject.

My guess, then, is that this will hurt Libby. My other sense is that this jury was going to be hung.

This could be a way to get rid of one of the "hang-ups."

What preserves the integrity of the jury process?

have you been following this case?

on valentine's day, all jurors except one wore the same shirts, and made some strange statement to the judge in open court.
