"Gotteskrieger" lives in Charlottenburg (Reda Seyam Bali Terror Suspect Lives Undisturbed In Berlin)

For three years the Reda Seyam standing under terror suspicion lives in Berlin. Authorities are powerless.

In the district administration office Ulm is not still for a long time smoked annoyance. Also still: Nothing could be made in the affair to pay except tooth-crunching. Seyam is considered a terror suspect, according to the federal attorney general he was part of the Bali attacks in 2002, attacks that cost 200 lives. However, years of investigations haven't yet produced a compelling case against the Islamist. Seyam himself denies any involvement.

Gert Monheim has produced a TV documentary for which he has visited and interview Seyam over the course of half a year. ARD is broadcasting "Der Gotteskrieger und seine Frau" today at 9 pm.

"He lives with his second wive and six children in Charlottenburg", says Monheim. Within the islamic scene, the "former fighter in Bosnia" is considered a legend. The family lives off welfare cheques.

His religious world view

The documentary protrays his religious world view. "He describes Afghanistan under the Taliban as an exemplary islamic state and consideres stoning women the right punishment for adultery" says Monheim.

Seyam is one of the most notorious muslims in Germany yet shrouded in mystery. According to his first wife, Doris Glück, who wrote a book about her life with him in 2004, he came to Germany to study math in 1987. He asked for her assistance with a newspaper ad, in which he was looking for a German wife. In the end she married him herself. In the following years he mutated from a "loving Omar-Sharif-copy" to a jihadist. Glück converted to islam, the couple moved to Bosnia in 1994 to support the Muslims during the civil war. His wive, however, suspected him of misusing donations intended for humanitarian aid to arm and finance the mujaheddin.

Arrest on Bali

Finally, Seyam was arrested 4 weeks prior to the Bali attacks by the security forces of said island. Even though he was said to be one of the men orchestrating the attack, he was released due to lack of evidence and escorted back to Germany by federal police. First he belonged to the suspectedly extremist muslim community of Neu-Ulm, before moving to Berlin, were he, his wive and six children live under constant surveillance ever since. His second wife is Albanian and the widow of a "martyr". Before the Schoeneberg court the family sued for the right to call their youngest child "Djihad", arabic for Holy War.

According to newspaper sources the Berlin authorities have long been looking for ways to proceed against him. It were known that he's a radical islamist, officials say. "Like many others, he's under observation", an official said. An official statement from the state administration could not be obtained, a spokeswoman explained: It is standard practise not to discuss single cases.

The Berlin authority responsible for foreigners has deported ten people during the last 3 years due to suspicions of terrorist activities. Among these two imams who had preached radical actions in their communities.

Berlin CDU criticizes handling of Reda Seyam

The spokesman for questions of the interior (law enforcement) of the CDU parliamentary group, Frank Henkel, asked: "How is it possible that a suspected terrorist lives among us undisturbed - especially if we know that there are more than 5000 radical islamists in the city?".

The CDU wants the authorities to investigate the legitimacy of Seyam's marriage and welfare receivership. CDU expert Peter Trapp even demands deportation, should the marriage prove to be a sham.
