DUNCAN / NEWT for 2008? (Vanity)

Posted on 02/24/2007 10:25:56 AM PST by ElPatriota

I just thought I would throw it out there for your consideration.

Duncan's choice is NOT negotiable. Newt's IS :)

Why Newt?... Because yes, we can forgive those who deserve a second chance, and besides, he will pay the price by running in the second slot, as the Vice-President (Not that there is anything wrong with that!). Then, having gained invaluable experience, fully rehabilitated for his indiscretions, THEN, he will be ready to be president. He is still a young man so he's got the time.

Well .. you haven't been paying very good intention. The media has abandoned McCain .. even when he went on a tirade this week and was bashing the Bush admin all over the place .. he still couldn't get any favorable press.

Rudy .. don't know what the media's going to do. Right now they are playing nice .. but if he gets any more support and presents a real challenge to Hitlery .. he better watch his back.

" the problem with that is, that it would set him up for a presidential run down the road and while he is strong on defense, he is very very liberal on everything else."

True enough.. But IMHO, nothing matters save the WOT and if a Dim ticket gets elected we lose, and I do mean lose.

Can you imagine the screaming kids on one side of the debate and the sober adults on the other? I can't see (at this point) how NG/JL could lose.

I'll play along with your scenario here because I truly hope that Newt finds his way into the 2008 mix in some capacity. I'll wait for the primaries to see who gets my presidential vote. But ideally, I would love for Newt to be a part of any debate involving a liberal. Image a repeat of Cheney's arse-whoopin of Edwards, except with more charisma. I would relish the day.

A perfect consolation prize would be for him to hang around as VP for 8 years while he recaptures his image/brand from the media propagandists. Unlike Cheney who avoids the spotlight, Newt would have no problem going to enemy territory (Meet the Press, NY Times, etc) and annihilating them on their own turf. And then he charges into the White House in 2016.

Far-fetched (admittedly) but it's Saturday afternoon. What do you expect?

What about them ..?? Do you have evidence or rumors ..??

The only person other than his former wife that I know about is his current wife. He was having an affair with her while he was still married .. although the marriage had been in trouble for quite some time.

Thanks for paying attention to the old media so that I do not have to ;>

There is no need to attribute complex thought to the media. The left is as predictable as the setting of the sun. They are as ecstatic that the top candidates are Hillary Rotten, Obamanation, McLame, and Rudy.

The GOP could nominate McGovern and they would still go after him in support of THEIR Dem candidate and agenda.

It's too bad Hunter and McClintock are both from California. They would make the dream ticket for the crowd that thinks 30% is a winning majority.

"Talking about delusions and fantasies..."

Yeah, I've said it a billion times, going back to the Harris FL Senate campaign...I'm basically throwing up my hands at this point.

I don't get how someone can go through life and not have ANY family members, co-workers, friends, people in clubs their in, etc. that aren't Republicans or or are "independents" or are people that switch their Presidential votes between parties, etc. - Only someone that literally doesn't know ANYONE personally that isn't a Republican or hard-core Republican would be oblivious to the fact that MOST of the country actively hates Newt Gingrich and considers him a joke, and doesn't know Duncan Hunter from a hole in the ground and would have no interest in voting for him if they did.

McClintock can always fit in somewhere. He is a true conservative and should have been Gov instead of Arnie.

Michael Barone's latest article with polling data (hint...looking bad for Newt and good for Rudy):

Tancredo can always fit in too. We need Newt also because of name recognition. He has been through the dimwits nonsense and could probably handle it.

Rudy reminds me of Bush 1. I don't know that he could be trusted on social issues.

I'd support Gingrich if he ran, but it would be a futile gesture. Social conservatives hate him, independents hate him, and anyone left of center hates him.

And that's not something he's likely to overcome in a year.

Yes, he can attract 1/6th of the Republican vote. I don't like it, but it's the truth.

I'd be fine with people who supported Hunter for the nomination but admitted that he had zero chance in the general election, but made some sort of case that it was worth it to give up this presidential election to build the base for the future a la Goldwater or something.

It's the people whose sole political criteria is their personal fantasies and that have no concept what people other than themselves think or perceive that I don't get.

Primaries are a year away. The media is desperately trying to maintain control of the playlist. Don't let them.

Oh so true.

And not to forget, the media depends on advertising revenue.
