FReep this poll: Giuliani vs Duncan Hunter:
http://www.freerepublic.com/perl/poll?poll=173
Found this on another thread from Torie about judges:
I did some googling about Guiliani judicial appointments. You stimulated me to do so. Congratulation.
The mayor of NYC appoints family and criminal court judges, and civil court judges on an interim basis, all of whom are lowly trial court judges, who don't set any legal precedents. They are the folks who go to second and third tier law schools, and then go to the local DA's office, and handle park and bark cases as they try to move up the judicial food chain.
Here is a post that per my research indeed accurately describes the process. The process is not partisan. The mayor does not select judges not recommended by the Mayor's Advisory Committee.
It is time to move on EV, and remind folks that Rudy does not hate gays, favors civil unions, did not favor concealed carry of guns in NYC, and is not in favor of making illegal all abortions, and keep reminding folks of that. THAT will cause a stampede to your favorite candidate, who at the moment remains behind the curtain, pending your dramatic unveiling, I am sure. Your jihad against Rudy over his NYC trial court appointments is shooting blanks. That salient of your offensive against Giuliani is a failure, or will be, because there is no "there," there.
And there you have it.

Making it all the more difficult to ban all the Rudy supporters!
I think the funniest thing is the people cheering that Rudy only got 1/4th of the vote and they think this is representative of America. With all the grief we have been taking on here, surprised to see 1/4th of Freepers support Rudy over Hunter. You are right that is a hefty chunk of change if you stop to think about it!
Just a reminder in case you forgot that Alan Keyes won the support on here in 2000! :)

Well sure. Hunter's gonna clean up here on FreeRepublic. There's no question that a majority of Freepers prefer Hunter to Rudy.
But if this were any other Internet poll, Freepers would be all over it discrediting it.
Still, it's pretty significant that Rudy's pulling almost 25%. That's roughly representative of about 40,000 - 50,000 people, right?
Not bad for "RINO" in the midst of the lion's den.
;-)
It sure would make it difficult. Every day we get more people added to the ping list. I kept the ping list for Pres Bush in 2000 and this has gotten to almost 200 way faster than that one did. In fact, the one for Bush took off during the Florida fiasco.
I just pinged you to an article that says Republicans tend to stay with their frontrunners. Rudy's in like flin.
Duncan Hunter's going to need all the money and volunteers he can get so if you do come around to support him make sure to go to http://www.gohunter08.com
What I posted is FR Member Voting, not overall (lurkers and passersby). So no that doesn't translate to 40,000 - 50,000 people. In fact it represents 265 Freepers.

Wrong, it means that there's 265 Liberal TROLLS polluting the CONSERVATIVE Free Republic with their liberal tripe (spam) whom need Zotting.
I don't know that I'd call it good. Even if FreeRepublic is only representative of 10% of the GOP base, that could still result in 2% of voters staying home in 2008. If that were to occur it would be an uphill battle for Giuliani. As importantly, it would result in devastating losses in down-ticket races that will set the party back decades.
If Rudy does end up winning the nomination, he'd be very wise to select a very conservative and young VP that could be competitive in 8 years. That might be enough to make him palatable to conservatives. If not, I suspect the 2008 election results will not be to any Republican's liking.
Out of curiousity, how long do you intend to continue playing the role of a victim, and posting to every thread the assertion that FR is just a shell of its former self? I'd think that would get tired at some point, and I'm just wondering when that point might occur.
You can just type his name in the search bar here on FR. There are plenty of threads with info. Just about everyone who sees, hears from and learns about him is impressed.
Just some background info on Hunter and his outspoken nature to go where not many(I don't think any) Republicans go with their spineless nature.
Hunter on Abu Ghraib(courtesyhttp://www.larouchepub.com/other/2004/3128goss_hunter_block.html : )
Probably the single loudest obstructionist voice in the House of Representatives in support of the Cheneyac "Beastman" policy in Iraq has been Armed Services Committee chairman Duncan Hunter (R-Calif.). Hunter has been able to use his position to block any meaningful inquiry into the Abu Ghraib prison scandal and at every public opportunity, has railed against those who are demanding such an investigation. He even went after his GOP counterpart in the Senate, John Warner (Va.), for holding three hearings in two weeks on the scandal, practically accusing Warner of treason.
Under great public pressure, Hunter has since held one hearing, for part of one day, and has no intention of having any more. During debate on the Fiscal Year 2005 Defense Authorization bill, on May 19, Hunter declared, "We have had enormous publicity the last number of days about the mess at Abu Ghraib. I estimated we have probably devoted as much media attention to that mess involving now, as identified, some seven personnel, as we did to the Normandy invasion. And that is an imbalance. It is time to refocus." What did he want to refocus on? "The 135,000 great personnel doing their job in Iraq."
On June 14, when the committee took up a resolution of inquiry sponsored by some 40 Democrats, demanding the Pentagon be more forthcoming with documents relating to the prison scandal, Hunter placed the 6,000 pages of the report on the abuse and torture of prisoners filed by U.S. Army General Anthony Taguba (the Taguba Report) on a table at the head of the hearing room and railed at the Democrats, "Isn't that enough for you?"
Hunter on Guantanamo(courtesy http://washingtontimes.com/upi-breaking/20050613-033125-4935r.htm:)
California Republican Duncan Hunter held a press conference to discuss the treatment of detainees at the island jail, and spent his opening statement going over a daily menu for prisoners that included oven-fried chicken and fresh fruit.
"This is what Osama bin Laden's bodyguards will eat several times a week. Lemon chicken, rice, broccoli, carrots, bread and two types of fruit," Hunter said, inviting a reporter to come eat with him.
Hunter was digging himself out of small hole he got into over the weekend when he said on a news program that the White House is divided over whether to close the jail.
"I think they've come to the conclusion, some members of the White House have come to the conclusion that the legend now, that the legend is different than the fact, and when that's the case you go with the legend that somehow Guantanamo has been a place of abuse and you close it down and you shorten the stories, you shorten the heated debate and you get it off the table and you move on," he said.
Then that just pretty much says you don't understand the concept of a representative sampling.
But the graphic was cute.
And didn't I see a link around here that freepers supported Alan Keyes in 2000? So much for FR being representative of the voting public.
LOL
Lots of liberal thought around here.
I am especially enjoying how when polls show Rudy is up, they are accurate, but when Duncan is in the lead we cheated (ie: cleared cookies and voted multiple times).
265 seems like alot. Are some just not posting?
How about as long as we keep seeing posts like this: Wrong, it means that there's 265 Liberal TROLLS polluting the CONSERVATIVE Free Republic with their liberal tripe (spam) whom need Zotting.
Why are the Anti-Rudy Oompa Loompas* afraid of the debate?
* AROL - Anti-Rudy Oompa Loompas ~ necessary to the story, but they sure are annoying.
JoinRudy2008 * Virginia is for Rudy * The Ward View
According to the poll, with less than 2,000 votes, over 99% of FR's 200,000 registered posters are not voting.
I disagree, and do so as someone who voted for Hunter in that poll. While tiresome, and 100% wrong, I don't think the Rudy supporters should be banned. Diversity of opinion is what keeps us sharp and makes this site interesting.
That said, I do find it humorous that some posters who have previously been the most bold in calling for others to either support the GOP or leave this site have suddenly developed a persecution complex. Funny how that works...
I continue to find posts like your's in saying you haven't seen Hunter anywhere. I am from NY and just came across Hunter when he was speaking about the Abu Ghraib scandal on the news networks. He was Chairman of the Armed Services Committee and I was able to watch him on C-SPAN, he's been on different networks discussing the war. He has had face time on tv, interviews, in stories. Just not as much obviously to pass some of you by. The man is impressive and I think the GOP nominee would be enough to officially have his name out there and Hunter impresses and will run a strong campaign. What a time it would be to watch his destroy Hillary in the debates and during the campaign. Just make sure you check out the debate coming up in April to see Hunter in action because people need to keep an open mind and realize he would make the best candidate and will make up for not being as familiar with the public.
Or maybe as long as the girlie men keep pinging Jim in a desperate cry for help :-)
They're not just afraid of debate, they're afraid of posters who actually like and support a Republican they don't like. And all this time I thought it was Congressional Republicans who needed to grow a spine. LOL
I agree, they should not be banned, unless they get pushy, jerky and arrogant like the ignorant post to which you just replied. Fine, let them have their liberal views, but when they start calling supporters of the conservative candidate liberal trolls, that's a good indicator they really don't have the conservative viewpoint expected of members of FR.
