TALLAHASSEE - Gov. Charlie Crist said Wednesday that he may issue an executive order single-handedly restoring civil rights to felons who have completed their sentences.
The announcement from the Republican governor drew applause from nearly two dozen Democratic lawmakers from the legislative black caucus, known formally as the Florida Conference of Black State Legislators. -snip-

Charlie Crist gets brownie points from the Democrats by empowering their favorite voters! Way to go Charlie!

Funny thing, when they go to re-register they'll probably find their names have been voting for years ;D!

If a criminal has completed his or her sentence, probation, and restitution, why not grant certain rights back to the individual like the right to vote?

...rapists and child molestors are Felons. There is no amount of rehabilitation that can keep them from getting the "urge".

Are there any black legislators in FL who are Republicans?

This could possibly tip Florida into the Democrat column in 2008.
Governor Crist needs to have his hands smacked with a ruler before he dares sign such a bill.

And the next step is to stop pedophiles and other sex offenders from registering?

Because that is the price you pay when you become a felon.
They have already proven they don't want to be a part of a productive society.
Do you really want them to vote on what's best?

What about illegal-immigrant ex-felons?
They'd vote Democrat too!

One of those felons just raped and murdered a young woman in the past month.
I wonder what else the gov. is planning on.
My guess is homosexual civil unions in a year's time.

The way they are tossing out felonies these days, I have to say I don't support lifetime punishments. If they aren't rehabilitated, don't let them out. Once they are out, you have to let them back into society or they'll keep committing crime. And to not let them vote but still tax them is against the spirit of the American revolution.

Apparently 20% of the black vote really cost Florida a bundle.

Rights for a felon? No.
A person who has preyed on a society deserves no rights as a voting citizen, nor should they be allowed public assistance or government employment in any form.
