Paul Honored as "Taxpayers' Friend" for Tenth Consecutive Year
www.house.gov/paul/
February 21, 2007
Washington, DC: Congressman Ron Paul has been recognized as a top advocate for taxpayers in the U.S. Congress for the tenth year in a row, earning the nonpartisan National Taxpayers Unions annual award as a "Taxpayers Friend" for 2005. Only 30 of 435 members in the U.S. House of Representatives earned similar honors last year.
The annual NTU rating is based on critical congressional votes relating to federal tax, spending, and regulatory issues. Paul consistently ranks at or near the top of NTUs scorecard in terms of his pro-taxpayer votes.
Overall, however, Congress is slipping when it comes to serving the least-represented special interest of allAmerican taxpayers.
"If every member of Congress voted like Representative Paul, Americans could enjoy much lower taxes and less waste in government," stated NTU President John Berthoud. "Overburdened taxpayers in Texas and across the nation owe Mr. Paul a debt of gratitude for his hard work on their behalf."
"While many Members of Congress talk about reducing the size of government, Representative Paul backed up those words with votes. This award proves that he is a consistent and effective ally in our battle to restore fiscal responsibility to Washington."

I think he's been OK on taxes--not great. He didn't fight hard enough for the estate tax elimination and he didn't fight at all to eliminate our social security tax. Also: where was Bush & Co. on eliminating the AMT?
This, coupled with the ridiculous spending levels, is reason why I don't give Bush better marks on his tax policies.

Those big red words exposing Ron Paul really bother you and his supporters because he is exposed for his votes on the WOT. Speaking for myself, your "big red words" are hilarious. By all means keep them coming!

A man sentenced to death in Kuwait for the 1983 bombings of the U.S. and French embassies now sits in Iraq's Parliament as a member of Prime Minister Nuri al-Maliki's ruling coalition, it was reported yesterday.
Jamal Jafaar Mohammed, who currently has immunity from prosecution because he is a member of Parliament, supports Shiite insurgents and acts as an Iranian agent in Iraq, U.S. officials told CNN.
Intelligence sources said Mohammed is accused of assisting Iranian special forces in Iraq as a "conduit for weapons and political influence," CNN reported.
A Kuwaiti court sentenced Mohammed to death in 1984 for the car bombings the previous December. Five people died and 86 were wounded. He had fled the country before the trial.
Mohammed has also been accused of being involved in the hijacking of a Kuwaiti jetliner in 1984 and trying to assassinate a Kuwaiti prince.
Mohammed won a seat on Iraq's Council of Representatives in December 2005. He represents Babil province, a region south of Baghdad.
A U.S. Embassy spokesman told CNN that officials are actively pursuing Jamal Jafaar Mohammed's case with Iraqi officials.

Setting aside the fact that the non-binding resolution Ron Paul supported was
1) proposed and supported by liberal democrats,
2) intended to weaken the Commander-In-Chief of our armed forces and
3) served only to send a demoralizing message to our troops and telegraph lack of confidence and willpower to our enemies ...
please consider that a "NON-BINDING" resolution is exactly that - a waste of time, resources and taxpayer's money!
Conservatives are elected to do something - not vote for "non-binding resolutions" that by definition, do nothing (other than # 2 and # 3 above).
No "taxpayer's friend" wastes time and taxpayer's money on "non-binding resolutions" whatever the ultimate reason.
Ron Paul has become a bad joke and a patsy for the democrats.

The government of Iraq is guilty of willfully and knowingly harboring self-confessed, and at least one
Convicted, Anti-American Islamic Terrorists
in their Ruling Majority Coalition.
"So long as training camps operate, so long as nations harbor terrorists, freedom is at risk. And America and our allies must not, and will not, allow it." -- President George W. Bush, 2002 State of the Union
Ron Paul is Right to demand that we end all Military and Financial support to Governments that knowingly and willfully harbor self-confessed and convisted International Terrorists. And he is the ONLY Republican Candidate standing consistently for this principle.
Best, OP

Congress would first have to establish a House POW/MIA select committee.
So far, Ron Paul and his co-sponsor Anna G. Eshoo are the only Congressmen pushing for this. The rest of the House is just sitting on it.
Letting our missing troops rot.
Woow! You really need to reel on your comments and expand your knowledge way more before speaking like this.
NO ONE! is letting the POW and MIA rot. It has been worked on diligently behind the scenes. This falls under Joint POW/MIA Accounting Command.
Maybe a select committee is not being established due to...confidentiality? The covert ways people have been sent in?
Defense most likely works better without politicians. McCain/Kerry have been caught shredding documents on our POW/MIA.

I don't sapm and was it not you that cried like a baby the other day when I called you a liar? Yes, yes it was. But when you called me a liar today, did I act like you? NO. You do not want to be called a liar but it is okay for you to do it? Huh? That is a liberal tactic. Liberal sourcing for your Iraq information, liberal reactions..... are you a whiney liberal, posing as a conservative?

Sorry. They're pretty upset over at POW/MIA InterNetwork and I guess the frustration was contagious.
I'll "reel it in" a bit.

Yeah, but it's not like the Dims or even the Republicans are running for the honor, eh?
I'm very dissatisfied with the GOP's abandonment of smaller government and balanced budgets. Say what you will about Newt, he made real headway there where Reagan could not. It was a great legacy for Gingrinch until that guy from Texas moved into the White House and led us down the big-spending path to the minority party.
I like Paul on fiscal issues. I'm keeping an eye on Hunter (not so good on pork barreling) and Romney (decent record so far but that health care plan is troubling even in a Dim state and even though he avoided the employer mandates that The Arnold is going to decree).
I don't want to sound wishy-washy but my own primary comes late and I worry that NJ and CA will move up their primary. I may essentially get only a primary vote that would mean voting McStain or Romney to stop Giuliani.
I'm hoping to vote Ron Paul and I hope he goes all the way to the general election, on any available national ballot. But I am especially afraid of Giuliani becoming our nominee. Admittedly, I don't like it when my picks in the primary come down to who can stop Giuliani. Especially when so many GOPers are picking Giuliani because they claim she can beat Hitlery. Well, I'm still trying to sort all this out. Good thing I have a lot of time. And starting so early will give Giuliani plenty of time to explode and for us to expose him.
I really like that list you've started on Ron Paul. Given his many stands over the years for privacy and liberty, it could be much longer. He is a dream candidate for conservatives and libertarians of all stripes.

You freaked out like a baby. Did you not call me a liar today? Did I freak out? NO.

I think he's been OK on taxes--not great.Maybe I'm a bit biased since Bush tax cuts are one of the very few things done by politicians to ever have a good effect on my life. I also think that the concrete evidence that his tax cuts helped the economy will be a major asset to the anti-tax movement in the future.

Your Iraq war information is from liberal sources and you can't even get the MIA/POW issue right.
