Tori Kovach of Aberdeen, left, is a regular feature on downtown streets, often seen near the Wishkah Bridge holding signs protesting the war in Iraq or chastising President Bush. On Wednesday, Sgt. Brendan Chamburs, the Marine Corps recruiter stationed in Aberdeen, saw Kovach holding a protest sign near Quiznos and decided to stage a counter-demonstration.
He had his sign made at Coast Line Signs. Kovach was unmoved, saying, I believe in the military, but I think the military is being misused. They are dying for a lie. A few people honked their horns as they drove by, but not everyone was inclined to support free speech. Before Sgt. Chamburs showed up, someone threw an egg at Kovach from a passing car, hitting his sign.
OORAH!
Thank you Sgt Chamburs! and Welcome to Free Republic!

It occurred to me that I inadvertently hijacked a thread honoring Sgt. Chamburs. My pride in our son should not over ride the honors due to Sgt. Chamburs for his actions that inspired this thread.
Sgt. Chamburs, your courage and patriotism are an inspiration to us all, and a credit to the United States Marine Corps. Thank you for taking the time to let others know what a real man looks like when you stood post in front of the loser. All the best to you.
Dearest RushLake,
I do not want to speak for the fine Sgt.
But, I can only predict (since I am the wife of another fine Sgt;-)that he would welcome the company of his fellow Marines in receiving thanks and appreciation.
I cannot imagine ANYONE thinking that you hijacked a thread to honor YOUR SON...
Perhaps it is we, who should be apologizing to you, for not giving him one of his own.
To that I add my deepest appreciation and gratitude to your son and to all other military personnel who protect me, my family and the United States of America.
God bless them all.
Respectfully,

Sgt, thank you for your service to our country! No one does it better than the USMC.
You are much more than "just" that. Importantly, you are raising the next generation. And by the fact you are home schooling, likely doing a darn great job of it!
BTW - when people would say to my mom, "Oh. So you are just a housewife?" Her answer was about raising the next generation.
Thanks for all you do and welcome to FR.
Well done Marine! If I could figure out how to do the clip on post #45, I'd copy it again here! I'm truly sorry you've had to endure these nincompoops but this civilian is very proud of your counter action. From one sign-holder to another--WAY TO GO!
Thank you, Sir for your service to our country and for standing up to vermin like this!
Sgt. Chamburs,
Here is a great big AF salute for you. Thank you for your service to our country.
Regards,
AR
God Bless You!
And Thanks!
