Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani got good and bad news from the Quinnipiac Poll.
The good news: He beats Senator Hillary Clinton, 48% to her 43% in a national poll conducted last week.
The bad news: It's still over 18 months to go until Election 2008.
Quinnipiac drilled down to the red, blue and purple state level: Giuliani beats Clinton 55-38 in states that voted Republican in the 2004 election.
Interestingly, he ties her 46-46 in the blue states, while it's close in "purple states" (where the "margin in 2004 was less than 7%) - Giuliani has 44% while Clinton has 45%. Here are some more matchups:
- Senator John McCain edges Clinton, 46 - 44 percent
- Clinton tops former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 49 - 37 percent;
- Giuliani beats Illinois Sen. Barack Obama 47 - 40 percent;
- Giuliani tops 2004 vice presidential candidate John Edwards 48 - 40 percent;
- McCain ties Obama 43 - 43 percent;
- McCain gets 43 percent to Edward's 42 percent, a tie;
- Obama tops Romney 49 - 29 percent;
- Edwards beats Romney 48 - 32 percent.
Giuliani would win a Republican primary with 40% of Republican primary voters supporting him over McCain who would get just 18%, while Clinton would win a primary with 38% over Obama (23%). Furthermore, the Quinnipiac poll shows that Giuliani has the highest favorability rating of all candidates, with 57%, which Clinton has 46%, McCain has 51% and Obama has 44% (notably, 40% don't know enough about Obama to form an opinion.
Yesterday, Mayor Giuliani was campaigning in South Carolina. On the news last night, WNBC's Melissa Russo noted something unusual: While the crowds were very friendly to Giuliani, even reporters (from Southern papers) asked Giuliani to take pictures with him.
C'mon now we all are just trying to have a little fun. This forum could use a little humor once in awhile.
Since I had never heard of "mean girls" I had no idea it was a "teen movie". Thanks for the info.
I wasnt aware that this was middle school where there is an "in crowd" but now that you mention it...
In my opinion there are those that feel they are part of the "in crowd" and with women, its ALWAYS jr high or high school for some. they run in packs, ridicule others when they think a thread has died etc.
What these threads could use is a good does of MALE influence. And of course some HUMOR.
I think Ill take a look at "mean girls" teen movie or not. In my opinion many many womem never get out of that mentality.
Did I, I hope so. I am not very educated, (formally anyway)
Rather than tear into Giuliani supporters day in and day out (how effective has THAT been, btw?), Rudy's detractors here would do better to look at the state of conservatism in America and ask the hard question as to why, since Reagan left office almost a generation ago, there hasn't been one conservative leader who presents a positive and unifying vision for the nation based on conservative principles to rise to national prominence. They want to hang Rudy for wearing a dress as a lark, and yet they can't produce the name of one conservative who can lead the cause on a national level, and into the White House. Seems to me that there needs to be some soul-searching on the part of all conservatives to figure out why there's such a vacuum of national leadership in what's supposed to be the majority ideology of the nation.
Name a "REAL CONSERVATIVE" who realistically can beat Hillary or Obama or Richardson or any other Dem now in their field and please detail how and why he can BEAT the Dem presidential candidate. Do NOT say because he is a CONSERVATIVE, since that is NOT an answer!
You're the "Berlin Betty" or the "Tokyo Rose" of FR.
two issues in one post, poorly made.
my main point is that in places where the majority are armed, there is less crime vs places where the majority are not.
And that gun control does NOT cut down on crime, being armed does:-)
Sorry for the confusion.
Born and raised in Washington state. Wyoming transplant.
You certainly did.
I think it was the poet Robert Browning who was from a very humble background, and it was said he was so gracious and impeccable in his manners and attitude, he was at home in the company of kings.
It wasn't charisma. His gravitas stemmed from gratitude and sincerity.
I'm supporting Duncan Hunter because I love the same things he wants to preserve. His love for the America I love inspires me.
And thats different from being in a work place as an adult dominated by women? LOL
trust me, working in dowtown seattle for several years in an office over run by women and "honey do" men, you see the same thing;)
Nothing against ALL women of course, definalty not a blanket statement, but true of some.
HA! not a "mean girl" but i definatly have a naughty streak.
Ditto!!
sw
Stop sucking up to liberals. We're a year away from the primaries for God's sake, we'll find a good conservative candidate.
The same people, who were here back then and are still here today, are the ones trashing Rudy and posting the same kinds of drivel about Rudy and his supporters and they did back then.
Imus is not anyone we want on our side, but oh well....
Let me be blunt. I don't believe there is anything wrong with conservatism as an ideology. The problem seems to be with some whose concept of conservatism is skewed by their warped personality disorders, who emote more than think, who are exclusionary rather than inclusionary, who think the "small tent" is preferrable to the "big tent," and who harken back to a day when conservatism was characterized as being primarily nostalgic, escentric, and paranoid, rather than positive and visionary.
Calling people silly, specious names isn't going to win you anything' not even a moment of "feeling good". You know that nothing you post is going to bother me at all. :-)
Sure looks like the media is planning for an anti-Bush Republican candidate, whether Republicans want it or not.
I'm just waiting for someone to come up with a Rudy / Hussein ticket ... that'd be the dem's strongest option. :)
Yes some men do thus my "honey do" guys. the ones whose wives were "honey do this, honey do that....." LOL they were often WORSE than the women;)
I think there should be a get to know the supporters thread. not real personal info but maybe sex and age. Heck the media is always trying to show wich candidate gets the most women or men. could be fun, ya know? a lighter thread.
I cant tell anymore, silly nicknames. though i cant say TOO much since mine is about as vague as the next :-)
