Former Mayor Rudy Giuliani got good and bad news from the Quinnipiac Poll.
The good news: He beats Senator Hillary Clinton, 48% to her 43% in a national poll conducted last week.
The bad news: It's still over 18 months to go until Election 2008.
Quinnipiac drilled down to the red, blue and purple state level: Giuliani beats Clinton 55-38 in states that voted Republican in the 2004 election.
Interestingly, he ties her 46-46 in the blue states, while it's close in "purple states" (where the "margin in 2004 was less than 7%) - Giuliani has 44% while Clinton has 45%. Here are some more matchups:
- Senator John McCain edges Clinton, 46 - 44 percent
- Clinton tops former Massachusetts Gov. Mitt Romney 49 - 37 percent;
- Giuliani beats Illinois Sen. Barack Obama 47 - 40 percent;
- Giuliani tops 2004 vice presidential candidate John Edwards 48 - 40 percent;
- McCain ties Obama 43 - 43 percent;
- McCain gets 43 percent to Edward's 42 percent, a tie;
- Obama tops Romney 49 - 29 percent;
- Edwards beats Romney 48 - 32 percent.
Giuliani would win a Republican primary with 40% of Republican primary voters supporting him over McCain who would get just 18%, while Clinton would win a primary with 38% over Obama (23%). Furthermore, the Quinnipiac poll shows that Giuliani has the highest favorability rating of all candidates, with 57%, which Clinton has 46%, McCain has 51% and Obama has 44% (notably, 40% don't know enough about Obama to form an opinion.
Yesterday, Mayor Giuliani was campaigning in South Carolina. On the news last night, WNBC's Melissa Russo noted something unusual: While the crowds were very friendly to Giuliani, even reporters (from Southern papers) asked Giuliani to take pictures with him.
Well then I guess we better not fart the wrong way - downwind I guess right? LOL! (I know that's gross)
Actually, I didn't call you a retard. I said that your claim that "not voting for Giuliani would mean that communism would result" was fit for my "Rutard" file...a compilation of the stupidest, most over the top claims by Giuliani's supporters. Yesterday's entry was from one of you who said that sharia law would descend on us if Rudy lost.
I'd rather have Hillary. At least she stuck with her spouse, even if for the wrong reason.
Maybe you stepped away. But when you get a chance, I'd appreciate a response to my freepmail.
Thanks.
No, but when some on your side make unlinked and unsubstantiated attacks on a solid conservative candidate, that tends to cause problems.
When you bemoan how horrible FR has become and refuse to donate to it while making large numbers of pro-Rudy posts, completely oblivious to the irony of the host not preventing such despite the fact he is strongly against Rudy's candadicy, you are ungrateful jerks. FR has only sanctioned the most over-the-top Rudy posters - folks who continually broke the posting guidelines and who engaged in slime attacks on other candidates. Otherwise, all I have seen is that you can't handle the fact that all of FR is not rushing to annoit someone from the far left of the party.
Tug on Superman's cape. Spit in the wind.
You know, that kind of thing...
So I'm only stupid. What a relief. Nice apology, jackass.
HERE YOU GO!
Hillary for President
FWIW, there are quite a few donors on the ping list. I had to do some cash juggling, so I'm not one currently, but I have contributed significantly in the past.
If there's someone that can't handle the facts, it is those who just can't accept the FACT that there ARE conservatives supporting Rudy.
I continually look at the rest of the (announced and/or presumed) field. Heck I'm even willing to be convinced there's someone better.
But so far, I'm uninspired.
Who the heck made you the one who is right in this? Certainly not the bible or god. You still have no right to judge people. God did not give you permission neither did the bible to judge people. You still don't get it? This is not a religious war but you guys have made it one. That is the stupidest thing you could ever do with politics and or election. You guys really truly want to lose don't you? Admit it!
Whether you are stupid or not, I do not know. But claiming that communism will be the result of a no vote on Rudy IS a stupid comment. Of that I'm sure.
My point is, a few of the Rudy boosters have publicly said they are withholding cash because how horrible FR has become. Others say Rudy boosters can't post here.
Meanwhile, Rudy threads proliferate on a forum where the owner is strongly opposed to Rudy. In other words, JimRob is quite accomodating of an opposing viewpoint here - and all he gets is trash talk for it. And that's bullcrap. This is full-contact season in politics. A lot of those complaining are also doing plenty of dishing themselves. They don't want a debate. They want their guy annoited. And that ain't gonna happen.
NAH!! Just crowned Grand Poobah! ;-)
Well, with all due respect, you and the other "true Christian conservatives" do have a sort of stand on the street corner to pray approach about things.
I'm almost 50. I grew up in the holiness movement and fundamentalism. I came into politics a strong proponent of the religious right agenda.
It's just that, as I've gotten older and spent more time in my own study of the Word, I've realized God is so much bigger than the box so many wish to put Him in.
Pass the Wesson. Ungh...
No one has asked for Rudy's annointing. He DOES happen to be the front leader.
And yes, like it or not there's a large group of Rudy fans right here on FreeRepublic. And we happen to be very excited about our candidate.
It's not our fault that Rudy is making most of the news, is leading in most of the polls, is generating the most excitement in the Republican party.
But it does get a bit tiresome when we're called names just because your candidate(s) are somewhere between the excitement level of oatmeal and cream of wheat.
If you can't talk your candidate(s) up without trashing ours, it's not OUR candidate that has the problem.
