Oklahoma City bombing conspirator Terry Nichols says a high-ranking FBI official "apparently" was directing Timothy McVeigh in the plot to blow up a government building and might have changed the original target of the attack, according to a new affidavit filed in U.S. District Court in Utah.
The official and other conspirators are being protected by the federal government "in a cover-up to escape its responsibility for the loss of life in Oklahoma," Nichols claims in a Feb. 9 affidavit.
Documents that supposedly help back up his allegations have been sealed to protect information in them, such as Social Security numbers and dates of birth.
The U.S. Attorney's Office in Utah had no comment on the allegations. The FBI and Justice Department in Washington, D.C., also declined comment.
Nichols does not say what motive the government would have to be involved in the bombing.
The affidavit was filed in a lawsuit brought by Salt Lake City attorney Jesse Trentadue, who believes his brother's death in a federal prison was linked to the Oklahoma City bombing. The suit, which seeks documents from the FBI under the federal Freedom of Information Act, alleges that authorities mistook Kenneth Trentadue for a bombing conspirator and that guards killed him in an interrogation that got out of hand.
Trentadue's death a few months after the April 19, 1995, bombing was ruled a suicide after several investigations. The government has adamantly denied any wrongdoing in the death.
In his affidavit, Nichols says he wants to bring closure to the survivors and families of the attack on the Alfred B. Murrah Federal Building, which took 168 lives. He alleges he wrote then-Attorney General John Ashcroft in 2004, offering to help identify all parties who played a role in the bombing but never got a reply.
Nichols is serving a life sentence at the U.S. Penitentiary Administrative Maximum Facility in Florence, Colo. McVeigh, who carried out the bombing, was executed in 2001.
McVeigh and Nichols were the only defendants indicted in the bombing. However, Nichols alleges others were involved.
McVeigh told him he was recruited for undercover missions while serving in the military, according to Nichols. He says he learned sometime in 1995 that there had been a change in bombing target and that McVeigh was upset by that.
"There, in what I believe was an accidental slip of the tongue, McVeigh revealed the identity of a high-ranking FBI official who was apparently directing McVeigh in the bomb plot," Nichols says in the affidavit.
Nichols also says that McVeigh threatened him and his family to force him to rob Roger Moore, an Arkansas gun dealer, of weapons and explosives. He later learned the robbery was staged so Moore, who was in on the phony heist, could deny any knowledge of the bombing plot if the stolen items were traced back to him, Nichols claims.
He adds that Moore allegedly told his attorney that he would not be prosecuted in connection with the bombing because he was a "protected witness."
Moore could not be reached for comment Tuesday.
In addition, Nichols says McVeigh must have had help building the bomb. The device he and McVeigh built the day before the bombing did not resemble the one that ultimately was used, Nichols says, and "displayed a level of expertise and sophistication" that neither man had.

The Philippines are listed as 5% Muslim, although some areas are much higher proportion. I have never seen anything about him spending time in the specifically Muslim parts of the Philippines.
I don't agree with the tinfoil hatters either,I think the OK bombing was a sting operation that went bad and not a deliberate act by the US government.
I do believe that the government knows more then they will ever let on about this mess, CYA and all that.
There is a lot of evidence that ties the fanatics at Elohim City in with the bombing, and also a lot of evidence that virtually everyone at Elohim City was a double agent, working for the FBI and the ATF, and one German intelligence agent who appears to have been working for the CIA.
There is also the mysterious missing suspect, who was then dropped.
There is also the evidence by an ordnance expert testifying that the concrete support pillars inside the building could never have been sheared off by an explosing at that distance, but that explosives must have been taped to the pillars themselves in the basement.
The only question in my mind is whether this was a sting operation that went bad, or a deliberate act of terrorism by certain agents in the FBI. Clinton had a big speech ready to go immediately after it happened, and most people agree that it turned the election around.
There was also a lot of talk that the FBI agents working in the building and their children in the daycare center were mysteriously absent that day. I don't know whether or not that story has been confirmed.
How about the Bohemian Grove?

I've been reading "The Third Terrorist" by Jayna Davis. The book provides much credible evidence of collaboration by Iraqi agents in the bombing with McVeigh as the stool-pigion in the operation. The scary thing is how the FBI switched from looking for the third terrorist (the Iraqi connection) to running a coverup to deny all foreign connections. I have not yet finished the book, but thus far it has been both fascinating and disturbing.
If I recall, Slick Willie went to see Vince Foster's widow with over $400,000 in cash to help sooth her sorrow!
Hey, I came in second in the 6th grade spelling bee, I have a license to wing it.
And if I remember correctly, Vince Foster's son supposedly died under somewhat mysterious circumstances...don't remember when though!
You know the amazing thing about that photo of the monkeys in the White house is how in the heck does anyone fit on the same couch as Madeline Albright?
What about Waco?
Yes, Mr. Trentadue's brother was found hanged in his cell but the cell was blood-splattered and the prison personnel left the man hanging for at least ten minutes while they video-taped and photographed the cell.
Also, the cell was scrubbed down that same morning. The only outsider to see the cell before that was an EMT person who asked to see the cell because of the condition of the body.
The DOJ investigation had only the video, photos, body, and bloody personal items to go on; as well as, interviews; it admitted that items in the cell had been moved around and did not accurately depict the scene at the time of death.
The local coroner's office was alarmed at the condition of the body and notified the FBI. The prison's notification to the FBI merely reported that a prisoner had hanged himself, they were told to send in a report.
The DOJ essentially said that the blood-splattered cell was evidence of several clumsy attempts to kill himself, including trying to cut his own throat with a tube of toothpaste.
It was these puzzling government reports that started the dead man's brother on his quest to clarify and it's leading to all the rest.
Just one more reason to question the "government has adamantly denied any wrongdoing in the OKC bombing and the investigation."
Wasn't much of a cover up. They killed a whole bunch of people on national TV.
If I remember correctly, wasn't there a surface to air missile discovered in a area adjacent to an airport landing strip somewhere in Maryland (or in that region) before TWA flight 800 was taken out. Nobody ever connected the two as I recall!

Because it is so disturbing, most of your fellow Americans will count it as kook conspiracy and dissmiss it, aiding in the pernicious cover up. The same tendency was and continues to be exploited regarding the UFO phenomenon.
