MINNEAPOLIS -- A man who plunged 16 stories from a Minneapolis hotel after breaking a window says he doesn't remember the fall but knows he's lucky to have survived.
Josh Hanson, 29, of Blair, Wis., was in Minneapolis for a dart tournament at the Hyatt Regency when he fell early the morning of Jan. 20. He said he and two friends had been drinking and took a cab back to the hotel.
Hanson said he doesn't know why he took off running down the hall after the group got off the elevator on the 17th floor. He said he doesn't remember hitting the glass or falling to an awning one story above the street.
He's home now, where he is co-owner of a bar. He still favors his right leg, which was broken. And still takes pain medication. But he expects to fully recover.

The big question is "Does he at least remember that sudden stop?"

The answer comes before the question...

I got to admit, I have never had so much in me that jumping out of a 17th floor window seemed like a good idea. I get woozy just standing at a railing that high, sober or not.

Ah, yes, he's from Wisconsin. Where drinking is a hobby, not just something you do while pursuing your hobby. Drinking IS the hobby.

A Wisconsin dart board champion walks into a bar and orders a drink. The bartender looks down and says "You know that you have a steering wheel in your pants"
The champion replies "Yah, it's drivin' me nuts"

Says he hit an awning. I think Mythbusters did one on an awning breaking your fall, seems the right kind can do a good job of it if you hit it right.

Well I once walked off the roof of a bar on Okinawa, looking for a cab after drinking lots of "MOJO". Anybody that spent time on Okinawa and drank lots of Mojo, will have their own stories of "foolish" things that happened. Ha

Reminds me of the day that my career as a 12-13 year old tree climber came to an end. Sometimes when you push the envelope to find the edges, well.
I was way up into the the skinniest boughs of the tree, say about 50' or a little more.., when 'pu KIICK!. Came straight down on my back and went thru the rotten tin roof of a old storage shed.
That was yet one more venture that the parents never heard about!!

The company that made the awning he felt into should have him in their advertising.
Or, at least, rename the model that caught him the "Cheesehead catcher".
