Then don't complain to us; complain to the Republican Party.

Really, what some people are going to have to face is this:

Many folks, like myself, simply lose our fear of the Democrat with Rudy atop the GOP ticket.

It might make you mad, or sad, or whatever; but it's a simple truth.

So screaming and yelling about who's going to get Hitlery elected, and blah blah blah, is just meaningless noise when the other option is Rudy Giuliani. At that point, I really fall into the "so the hell what if Hitlery wins." category.

And don't give me this "terrorists will be in every shopping mall in America within four years" crap. It ain't selling here, at least not with Rudy giving them special protection under the law for being Muslims, like he did in NYC.

Apparently the polls here in '99 and 2000 looked about the same, with G.W.Bush at around 1/3 and many proclaiming they'd stay home or vote 3rd party. He did end up winning but barely. By the time I joined during the re-count, all seemed quite united behind him and at odds with Gore and his antics.

If the GOP wants my vote, they'll nominate a Conservative.

I refuse to vote for a liberal, regardless of party.

How do you think we ended up with someone as brilliant AND conservative as Ronald Reagan in the White House? Certainly not by settling for more and more liberal Republicans, that's for sure. And that's what you're asking us to do.

Vote for a liberal - you'll get liberalism
Don't vote (D/L). Don't vote (R/L). Don't vote for a letter of the alphabet.
Vote for a philosophy.
Vote for a Conservative, and you'll get Conservatism.

Is there a way that poll threads could include a link to the poll?

Going into the preferences page; changing the preferences; voting in the poll; going back into the preferences; changing the preferences back to no side bar etc.

kind of discourages one from bothering with polls if one is the least bit busy that day.

Thanks much for all you do, John,

What a misguided thread.

85% of FReepers would vote for a conservative in the general election, but only about 1/3 of FReepers would vote for a liberal.

Yet somehow it's the fault of the conservative voters, rather than the RNC?

Listen up: Conservative voters have voted for moderates and liberals with a R after their names for years, and the results have included open borders, a ballooning federal budget, and massive new federal programs.

It's time for moderate Republican voters to vote for CONSERVATIVES, and lets see how things can really change in this nation. If moderates don't support OUR candidates, you'll probably see a lot of us bolting for 3rd parties, and the Republican party will be destroyed.

Moderates, the ball's in YOUR court now.

Many of us are sick of being pigeon holed into voting for a so-called "moderate" to avoid letting a leftist democrat win. Well, I say send us a decent candidate or live with the damned liberals put up by the Democratic party.

I'll only vote for a conservative. If that means that a liberal wins, so be it. That's the only way to keep the entire process from continuing to drift left.

Don't blame the market place for the product's failing! Politicians get votes by selling their vision of the way things ought to be. If Rudy or McCain can't sell their vision to conservatives then they need to take a look at the quality of their product. From the conservative perspective, their product bites ass.

I am tired of voting for the liberal jackass who happens to have an (R) after their name simply because I fear the boogie man with a (D) after their name. I want a POINT/COUNTERPOINT type of an election. Two competing visions. I don't see that contrast between liberal Republicans like Rudy and liberal Dems like Hillary. There is way too much overlap. I think that the Dems will overreach if they get the Presidency, just as they always do. When that happens it is an opportunity to swing the political pendulum back our way, but only if we have a competing vision. If Hilary defeats Rudy (which I believe she would), then when the overreach happens America will still view his ideology as representing the Republican alternative. And it just isn't different enough to change the direction we are heading in.

If we are going to lose, I'd rather lose with Newt laying down some solid points and propaganda to fortify our future and change our direction when the Dems go too far. I would actually prefer that to a Rudy win because, in my view, there would be more longterm damage from a Rudy win. Yes, that is right, I will say it loud: I DON'T FEAR HILARY CLINTON. She has a tin ear, a sloppy mind, and an overreaching base that controls the party. She will not do well. Republicans will actually fight her liberal policies and demagogue it to their base, as they should. We can contain her. Rudy, on the other hand, will peel off enough "Republican" support to actually get his liberal policies established, much like Bush has.

And no, I am not forgetting about the war on terror. That is doomed to fail until the American public understands how essential it is to our future. And I don't think Rudy can make them believers. With the media we have, nothing short of another terrorist attack that kills 5000+ on our soil will get the public on board.

Rudy's a Democrat not a Republican. Bottom line, I won't vote for a Democrat, regardless of the letter he chooses to place next to his name.

The vast majority of Rudy supporters would vote for Hilary if she put an "R" next to her name.

Let's now see what happens if we nominate a social liberal who's okay with abortion, gay unions and gay rights is a gun grabber and is weak on illegal immigration.

-

So don't nominate a RINO.

It's not complicated.

Hey, take this as fair warning. If the GOP puts up a liberal, they're going to lose. Only a crazy man sees the writing on the wall clearly and doessn't change tactics.

Give us a conservative, or embrace defeat. Those are the choices for the GOP.
