Here's the tally so far - this vote sort of looks like the "attitude" that was being displayed here as we were heading for the loss of the House and Senate - third party and undecided, and stay home versus voting for a social R will result in a Democrat in the White House - trust me on this! Please don't let it happen. But, I'm beginning to believe that it will happen.
______
Looks like our true blue conservative did pretty well in our prior poll. Let's now see what happens if we nominate a social liberal who's okay with abortion, gay unions and gay rights is a gun grabber and is weak on illegal immigration. Who do you vote for in the general?
Composite Opinion The social liberal with the big "R" 32.4% 1,424 Third party 28.6% 1,256 Undecided/praying 26.5% 1,164 Stay home 9.9% 435 Hillary, et al 2.5% 110 99.9% 4,389
Member Opinion The social liberal with the big "R" 34.3% 780 Third party 28.3% 644 Undecided/praying 28.2% 641 Stay home 8.2% 187 Hillary, et al 1.1% 24 100.1% 2,276
Non-Member Opinion The social liberal with the big "R" 30.5% 644 Third party 29.0% 612 Undecided/praying 24.8% 523 Stay home 11.7% 248 Hillary, et al 4.1% 86 100.1% 2,113
Don't get me wrong, I like Joe, I even forgive his total sellout during the 2000 election.
I voted for Joe when he ran in the last Senate election, the Repub was damaged goods and had absolutely no chance of winning. The Dems in Connecticut are livid with him and still crying in their milk after Lamoombat took it on the chin.
Why are posting like you are mad? Isn't FR here to discuss different ideas without being so - "What's your point?" about stuff?
That could be true, but even more of a disaster than Hillary - she is the one that will win out of so much turmoil on the republican side - trying to elect two virtually un-known and un-tested candidates (Tom Tancredo-Duncan Hunter) as noted here. When is the last time a member of the house won the Presidency? It is a real long shot and a true conservative may not be able to win, so compromise is the key.
I'm thinking that we already lost, simply based on the posts here, and the survey results so far.
Thats the problem. There isn't any compromise. Conservatives give up everything and get nothing.
You know, I'm sort of thinking that I've aligned myself with a crazy, fringe group - unwilling to compromise, one issue - it's my way or I'm not voting, etc.
It's getting a little creepy around here, but some posters do get it, so it's worth the effort. I guess it's time to acknowledge the right-wing space cadets amoung us. It's the completely mad element that is bringing the whole movement down.
So, if conservatives don't give up on every issue - abortion, gun control, illegal immigration, pervert rights, and global warming, then we're the ones unwilling to compromise and causing problems?
There is completely mad element, but it ain't us.
No, not every issue - just some.
Unfortunately, Rudy is on the wrong side of ALL of them.
I cannot deny what is true, but all we have are two House members that are conversative candidates, but I cannot remember if a member of the House ever won the Presidency - I'm thinking that that never has happened.
Anyway, so we are looking at a long shot with Iraq not exactly a favorable issue - at least now and the democrats in charge of both houses - the republicans generally screwing up, big time and the country not exactly ready to look at unknown people for the Presidency, in my view, so basically, going with either member of the house - we are screwed.
Therefore, let's all get prepared for Hillary as our next President as our candidate, one of the house members, if nominated, cannot win on a straight conservative agenda, period. Now, I don't like that result, but that will be the result based on the path conversatives are generally following at this time.
No such thing in elected office. Zell Miller retired.
