In a dramatic finding, a new poll shows a solid majority of Americans still wants to win the war in Iraq - and keep U.S. troops there until the Baghdad government can take over.
Strong majorities also say victory is vital to the War on Terror and that Americans should support President Bush even if they have concerns about the way the war is being handled, according to the survey conducted by Public Opinion Strategies.
The poll found that 57 percent of Americans supported "finishing the job in Iraq" - keeping U.S. troops there until the Iraqis can provide security on their own. Forty-one percent disagreed.
By 53 percent to 43 percent they also believe victory in Iraq over the insurgents is still possible.
Despite last November's electoral victories by anti-war Democrats, the survey found little support among voters for a quick pullout of U.S. forces.
Only 25 percent of those surveyed agreed with the statement, "I don't really care what happens in Iraq after the U.S. leaves, I just want the troops brought home." Seventy-four percent disagreed.
The survey was conducted before last week's House of Representatives resolution repudiating Bush's war policies.
But by 53 percent to 46 percent, Americans said Democrats are going too far, too fast in demanding troop withdrawals.
But the poll of 800 registered voters found Americans pessimistic about Iraq's fledgling democracy.
Only 34 percent felt it would become a stable democracy, compared with 60 percent who said it would not.

New York Post Front Page headline: TREASON
Great collection, petercooper!
I don't think Republicans or conservatives stayed home certainly those around FR didn't at least no more than usual in an off year election. We lost the moderates and Independents who the Treason Media scared away from the GOP because of its "Extremism".
That perception must be destroyed.
You assume wrong. What did I say that gave you that impression?
those are great covers- the "Smokin" one didn't post though

There are two wars going on, one which we here in the states are willingly losing, and one in which radical Islam is walking all over us, trampling our rights and freedoms into the ground. The far left in Congress are helping the terrorists along by passing laws that protect terrorists and strip the rights of Americans- We will win the war in Iraq, however, the war here at home will be lost out of the fear of political correctness, and the fear of offending Muslims in any way shape or form. It is Muslims who are writing the rules as to what offending them means, and were following right in their heel prints eager to please.

Hence the nonbinding resolutions. The Democrats know the polls don't agree with them.
Protest or not, there is no excuse for not voting.
Too many voters vote as if they were selecting their favorite soap opera on TV. They don't know much of anything about the facts; they get their impressions from the constant media propaganda (aka free advertising for the left).
I still find it hard to believe we (really) lost so many seats. And no contested votes!!!
Are Republicans really that ________ (fill in).
Well, I guess it really showed them, ya!!
