Clinton Objects to Confederate Flag

Feb 19 4:25 PM US/Eastern

By JIM DAVENPORT Associated Press Writer

ORANGEBURG, S.C. (AP) -- Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton said Monday that South Carolina should remove the Confederate flag from its Statehouse grounds, in part because the nation should unite under one banner while at war.

"I think about how many South Carolinians have served in our military and who are serving today under our flag and I believe that we should have one flag that we all pay honor to, as I know that most people in South Carolina do every single day," Clinton told The Associated Press in an interview.

"I personally would like to see it removed from the Statehouse grounds," the New York senator said during her first trip to the early voting state since announcing her White House bid.

Other Democratic hopefuls, including Sens. Joe Biden and Chris Dodd, have said the flag should come down. The banner, which once flew over the Statehouse dome and now flies nearby, is the subject of an ongoing NAACP boycott.

Clinton is one of several Democrats to draw huge crowds during campaign stops in the state, but she said during the interview that her party will have a tough time winning in GOP-heavy South Carolina

"I think it's going to be hard for any Democrat to carry the state," she said. "The Republican Party is very strong here."

Earlier in the day, Clinton spoke to more than 1,500 people gathered at Allen University, a historically black college in Columbia.

Well, her old man already used up the "I saw Black churches burning; I sat in the back of the bus to show my solidarity", so his dumbass wife sticks her foot in her mouth once again. FYI Hill, we are all united under one flag, however we also have state flags. The stars and bars would fall under that category.

What happens afterward ?

You mean after we all unite under the national flag? Don't know, we're still waiting for it to happen.

And if her party has it their way, it will be a white one.

More like the skull and crossbones...

I sometimes think that quote is misused. After all, patriotism is the LASt refuge and likely the last place you'd find a scoundrel, there being so many other more convenient hideyholes for those kind of folk.

Or maybe Samuel just wasn't a patriot and people ever since have draped themselves in him just to shove the shiv in.

Your choice.

I doubt they ask her any questions at all unless they were from a note prepared by her staff.

the confederate flag should forever stand in tribute to those brave men who died in defiance of the very government oppression that Hillary stands for and wishes to gain the power to impose....
its a part of history that should not be forgotten, its message is to not allow congress to impose overtaxation or excess federal controls at the risk of great peril

"...South Carolina should remove the Confederate flag from its Statehouse grounds, in part because the nation should unite under one banner while at war."

A war that she doesn't support or does support given the day and time.

PS Senator, we aren't fighting under the Confederate flag, but the stars and stripes. And the next time your staffer asks me where I'm from when I call your office to comment, I'll tell them that when you stay home in New York, making comments and legislation that applies only to New York, then I'll answer with specifics.

Hitlery will choose the flag for every state under her administration.

Hugo Chavez in a pant suit has really did it now. Most southerners have confederate ancestors buried - and they can point you to the graveyards where they are buried - who have fought and died for what they viewed as Yankee aggression.

Now lookee what we have here. This transplanted Yankee, who obviously moved to NY to position herself to run for POTUS - with liberal backing there she knew she would never get in Arkansas, has the nerve to tell South Carolinians of all people (Ft. Sumter, remember), to take down the confederate flag?

If she ever had any chance whatsoever of getting the south to vote for her, she just royally (her wicked highness) blew it.
