IMO what's missing is an effective slogans that stick it to the democrats.
The democrats are masters of vilifying conservatives as uptight out of touch racists.
Conservative candidates could repeat over and over "the democrats never miss a chance to undercut the economy" also, "the democrats never miss a chance to undermine the job market", "with democrats in power jobs for our young people are disappearing" also "wherever democrats are in power, crime skyrockets" also "wherever democrats are in power, they spend more time blaming others for their own incompetence than solving problems with the republican can do attitude" etc......
The republicans seem unable to answer the vilifying attacks and keep turning the other cheeck, but reps are running out of cheeks.
One of Rudy's greatest strengths is the ability to stick it to the dims IMO.

You are a moron. Tancredo was in one of the safest districts in the country. His campaign makes NO difference in the point that those who ran on the immigrant issue lost.
I am telling you now, the way to lose the 2008 presidency is to make it all about immigration.
But, losing is what you guys want, obviously.

Jim's number 4.."Stop the illegal aliens!" Nothing about " anti-immigration"
Are a Mitt or Rudy fan?

While most here agree with you, including me, voters just elected a bunch of dems. The Republican party and a conservative web site pushed for the RINO Arnie during the recall rather than McClintook, who had a strong anti illegal stance. I hope you keep pushing these issues. Thanks for letting us know what your views are.

No one said anything about making it ALL about immigration.
tiger-one is right, the term illegal aliens must be the terminology used at all times for the American morons to understand. And then he should pound out the stats on the problems illegal aliens create. Which Jim has listed so well. The stats must be told. The MSM only mentions it in passing once in a while. Cover it like Anna Nicholle Smith, know what I mean? LOL.

Anti illegal alien messages will help a candidate in voter areas where the voters speak English. Comprenda?
To: Jim Robinson
The Republican Party should never have abandoned the idea of creating future "Contracts with America" after the '94 elections were done! If the Republican Party and conservatives in general successfully came together and helped create new "Contracts with America" in '96, '98, '00, etc., then the Republican Party would of been in much better political shape today at every political level throughout the U.S. instead of in the "political minority" right now!

Don't forget about the growing threats from throughout the Middle East, Latin America, and Africa as well when making your list!

My view is this: A truly conservative candidate will not be a one-issue wonder, or somebody who appeals only to social conservatives who are to the right of Pat Robertson.
A President isn't somebody who does or says what other people want. A President is a leader who does what's right for the country. We need somebody who can fight the damn war, cut spending, control the borders, and in general leave the people the hell alone.

Hillary's running on an immediate unilateral surrender to the terrorists platform, as in exactly what they did to us in Vietnam. A humiliating and dibilitating defeat for America that we've never really recovered from, and it opened the way for the killing fields and bloodletting that killed millions of people. The same thing will happen in Iraq. If we pull out and the enemy takes control, millions of innocent Iraqis will die. And obviously our emboldened enemy will not quit. They'll step up their terrorist attacks anywhere and anytime they can hit us. Hillary will do nothing to put it down. Our people will die wherever in the world they can hit us.
Supposing we run a decorated Vietnam veteran against Hillary who can articulate the truth about the Democrat surrender in Vietnam and the bloodbath that followed, and who can speak directly to the people and relate the parallels and the dangers to America and the world if Hillary's foolish plan of surrender is allowed to take place?
Also, one who can speak confidently on what will have to take place for America to defeat the enemy and what we will have to do to secure the nation against future attacks. I don't think it would be all that difficult to persuade the citizens that we must secure the borders against the possibility of terrorist infiltration or weapons smuggling. It's only obvious common sense to be on a secure war footing if we're at war. And no doubt about it, we are at war even if the Democrats are successful with their treasonous pull out. The enemy will keep on coming at us.

The commies, some call them Libs & Rinos, always use the term ant-immigration. Translation, let all people in this country, no documents required. Shuttles to the free lunch offices. SS, welfare, free college and no prison time when you commit a crime. Hell no trial, just keep do what you do best.

Your twelve points spell the rescue of America. Any candidate carrying them all would face the most violent spew of hatred in opposition seen yet and could win only with the miraculous force of his faith.
Ronald Reagan's chances to win looked dim indeed even though perhaps those were simpler times. Yet, it happened. The protagonist to win would need such a miracle couched in deep religious faith. It is the battle of good versus evil.
