Giuliani's problem with the religious [large graphics]

Posted on 02/18/2007 4:12:23 PM PST by Jim Robinson

I don't know about you, but I doubt the Christian conservatives throughout the red state farm belt and especially down in the South are going to cotton to a liberal New York Yankee coming down to try to clean up crime by taking their guns and bringing abortion and gay unions (gay marriage) into their families, schools and churches.

It's mind boggling, I know.

Why dont some of these folks just jump on the dem bandwagon?

If they vote for rudy, they already have, they just don't know it.

I've got a map that I just put together and posted on another thread. It is relevant here so I'll post it here too:

Since the Roe v. Wade decision in 1973, abortionists in the United States have ended the lives of nearly 50,000,000 human beings. The map below shows that the entire human population of nearly all of the western states would have to die to add up to those nearly 50,000,000 lives. I just looked up the census to make sure and I created this map.

Approximately 49,000,000 human lives ended by abortionists since 1973

How could anyone vote for a U.S. president who not only would tolerate such a holocaust, but who has spent his entire elected political career SUPPORTING IT?

By time the next president is inaugurated you can add another 2.5 million human lives ended by abortionists in the United States. That's almost the entire population of Arkansas which will be added to the map soon thereafter. It is morally wrong to insist that someone vote for a person who supported this holocaust.

Better believe it,I for one have no faith in a man who would tell me that I must place the lives of my family and myself in the hands of the police who have no Constitutional obligation to protect us from threats of harm....And would take firearms from a disabled VET,myself, because it would prevent crime.Though I did see a quote somewhere in which Rudy stated that hunters would not be affected....single shot soft air guns would be permitted with a $1000.00 permit no doubt.

"I know conservative DEMS out here that are more conservative then some on FR."

Tell them to register Republican so they can vote for Duncan Hunter in the primaries.

I'll take your silence to be a vote of no confidence in your position.

Well, you would be wrong, ace. Lacking confidence is not one of my (many) flaws.

We know you can't understand, Enosh, just take for granted that the issue will not be swept under the rug.

How much political capital do you think he will expend to overturn Roe?

A president can't overturn Roe, only the Supreme Court can. And he has already pledged to appoint justices like Roberts and Alito. I don't see him backtracking on that.

"Sweetie, you don't seem to realize that we are not having a race between Hillary and Rudy. "

*BLUSHING* Why I haven't been called that in YEARS!

I realize that. I will vote for whoever wins the GOP nomination. And I am merely advocating for the candidate that I am backing, not trying to assassinate the character of his opponents (as SOME people around here are trying to do to Rudy). THOSE kinds of tactics are a way to guarantee the defeat of WHOEVER gets the GOP nomination...

You know, I was thinking of relaxing my pro-life judgement because he would be a powerful war-time leader, but then I heard he favored funding abortion. That is a bridge too far.

My right-winged fundamentalist zealotry prevents me from comprehending that one.

There is no reason why someone who is pro-choice, should favor Roe. Especially not if that person believes in states' rights.
