Missed what? The President had an excellent opportunity to respond to the House Dems and 17 RINOs who passed an unprecedented resolution during wartime that provided aid and comfort to our enemies and undermines the morale of our troops. It was more than just a difference of opinion.
If the Democrats have to resort to getting political cover from someone they despise, what does that say about them?
They are not seeking political cover. They are trying to destroy the US war effort in Iraq and insure defeat. And they are doing it all under the guise of supporting the troops but not the mission.
And, had Bush answered any other way, can you imagine how far the Democrats would be going right now? They might have decided to simply defund the entire war, and blame it on Bush for calling them unpatriotic.
I guess we shouldn't make the Dems really angry, because they would really, really take some drastic actions. It sounds like this business of not making the terrorists mad by "escalating" our attacks against them. Look, the Dems will do whatever it takes to win this politicial test of wills. They don't need a pretext or an excuse. If they believed that they had the support of the American public and it would be free from political consequences, they would defund the war in Iraq tomorrow.
Bush doesn't have to call them unpatriotic. He just has to explain how such a resolution will be perceived by the enemy, by our allies in the region, and by our troops. Let the MSM and the Dems draw their own conclusions. He could also point out that more than twice as many Iraqi security forces, military and police, have been killed than Americans or that they have lost three times as many in 2006. Iraiqs are fighting and dying for their country.
When Bush cant win, thank God he has the good sense to not play to lose.
It is not a game to win or lose. The very fact that the Dems felt so emboldened and empowered to even offer up such a Resolution and then have it passed says a lot about the shift in public opinion about the war. This was just the opening salvo and to dismiss it as "non-binding" misses the political significance of what has just happened.
Even "several species of small furry animals sitting around in a cave and grooving with a Pict" are smarter than Juan...
Vote Al Qaeda. Vote Democrat.

I remember that a few years ago when Iran had a massive earthquake, they would not even let Americans in to help. Did they let our supplies help freezing homeless Iranians? No.
They are repeated on C-SPAN and the transcripts are on the Internet. The basic problem is that most Americans could care less about politics. We are lucky to get 50% to turn out for most elections and the numbers are usually far less. As a result, people are easily swayed by lies and deceptions.
2) by a magnitude of powers, what most people hear as 'news' is what they hear from Leno, Letterman, Colbert, npr, mtv, and a hundred other outlets who filter the President's words.

That describes most politicians. How did Blair get the Labour Party to go along with sending troops to Iraq and keeping them there for as long as he has? I understand the UK will cutting its troops down to 5,000 this summer or about half of what they have there now. I still credit Blair for political courage and doing something unpopular and with less support than GWB had.
It is not about avoiding Democrat anger, it is about not poisoning the well. Who doesnt know by now what the Dems are about? And if you find someone that stupid, why waste time trying to convince them? The job is not to convince anyone, the job is to win.
Anyone making the argument that Bush didnt fight hard enough is being unrealistic. It is not Bush's job to fight, it is ours. The leader of the free-world does not need to reduce himself to the level of a John Murtha in order to get his way.
I will question anyone who thinks the President should have done more, by asking them just what they have done on their own. I think Bush should spend his time keeping the nation safe and the economy strong. I leave the Cheerleading, arguing and the rest to others.
We should stop believing that those who disagree with Bush just didn't hear it right, we should understand that they are either against us, or they are just plain too dumb to care.
That may still come after their Congressional committees start their investigations to build a dossier.
The biggest thing I got out of it is actually how well the surge tactics are working for everyone! Mookie is hiding in Iran,which shows who he really is, the politicos in Iraq who have been "taking the people's money" as it is described, have been told by Maliki to get out!,
We are finding terrorist after terrorist and the entire areas is being secured at a rapid rate with 75% of the Iraqi army showing up as requested.
It's all a win, win win situation! As Hannity often says "the greatest story never told."
Once again we get all this from Ali Veritas-- Queen of links and once again she shows just how good her work truly is.
I finally saw an episode of that Red-Eye show on Fox.
I never stay up late enough to watch it...unless, my granddaughter, who stays up VERY late is here.
After she finally fell asleep at about 1:45 AM..I turned to Fox and Red-Eye was on...
WOW do those people on that show talk FAST!!! It sounded like a show I would like...I just can't stay up late enough to watch it every night though.
