A USA Today/Gallup poll gave Mr Giuliani a 16-point lead over his rival Senator John McCain It's a sad day for the Republican party when these two are the front runners.

In an interview with CNN's Larry King Live on Wednesday, Mr Giuliani conceded that there was lots of material with which the press and opponents could attack him. "The way I deal with that is, hey, I'm a human being," he said. "You know, I made mistakes. I'm not perfect. I keep trying to learn from them. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. I keep working on that. I keep trying to learn from them. I'm a human being, much like, I think, everybody else."
Giuliani's campaign slogan:
"I'm a human. Really, I am!"
Hmmm...seems to be lacking that certain something...

I suspect the "weirdness" part of this is going be a slow drip of supporters falling away from him.
One of Giuliani's biggest problems is that he tends to remind most Americans why they hate New York City so much.

I don't care what President Bush did or did not do in the National Guard. I don't care what John Kerry did or did not do in Cambodia. I don't care what Dick Cheney did or did not do while in school during Vietnam. And I don't care what Rudy Giuliani did or did not do while working during the 1969s, particularly since the record shows he was at some points elegible for the draft, and simply wasn't drafted.
I know others care. I don't. I care about today and the future.

Sounds like the clinton at work trying to hurt Giuliani.
He is a better person that they could ever hope to be.

Mr Giuliani, who has twice married subsequently, was also vulnerable to claims he avoided service in Vietnam by receiving "special treatment from a friendly federal judge" and later "hypocritically prosecuted draft dodgers".
He dodged the draft so he could become a prosecutor of draft-dodgers? Why am I not surprised?
To: Spiff
Recall 2000 when the "true conservatives" at FR were saying that Bush was a draft dodger, in hopes of electing Keyes?
Soon, you will have evidence that Rudy is a coke dealer.
How is your candidate Keyes doing in the polls?

So Guilianni's also a flip-flopper. He went from being pro-life (the RIGHT side) to pro-choice (the WRONG side).
Interesting. And as the article states there is definitely a WEIRDNESS factor with Guilianni. I most assuredly agree. As I've said on this forum, he's a WEIRD guy.

I'll vote Giuliani if it comes to that. He's a Lieberman Republican; right on the war, wrong on almost everything else. But the war is my bottom line issue.
Meanwhile, I want someone who believes what I believe. That means I'm looking for a Hunter/Bolton or Gingrich/Bolton ticket.
Heck, maybe Bolton should head the ticket.

Rudy's personal life is bizarre, I gotta agree with you there.
To: Spiff
Only slightly better than half of ALL Americans would even consider voting for a guy married three times, according to recent polling. Rudy has many rocky roads ahead as people learn more about him.
