WASHINGTON (AP) -- The Democratic-controlled House issued a symbolic rejection of President Bush's decision to deploy more troops to Iraq on Friday, opening an an epic confrontation between Congress and commander in chief over an unpopular war that has taken the lives of more than 3,100 U.S. troops.
The vote on the nonbinding measure was 246-182.
Resolution criticized President Bush for his decision to send more troops to Iraq is a rare admonishment of a wartime commander-in-chief.
"The passage of this legislation signal a change in direction that will end the fighting and bring our troops home," House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said before the vote when she endorsed the measure that takes issue with Bush's decision to send an additional 21,500 U.S. troops into battle.

Those 17 bums should be excommunicated from the GOP.....ASAP..... no, NOW!
Your right. But the American people have no stomach for war,we have become content to adore the lives of hollywood, like knowing every detail of the life of Anna Nicole Smith. Face it those of Islam faith may be nuts but they have faith and courage. This being a Christian nation we do not have that same faith and courage and it will be our downfall. And I am Christian but too many Christians have no real faith at all.And if we have no faith where do we draw our courage from? When we get hit again it will be bad and I pray we will have the stomach then to fight back with courage. But the fat cats in Washington have the moral souls of jackals and don't give a damn about America. They only care about their power and position and whats good for them and theirs. This nation is divided and unfortunately it will take a true disaster to bring us together.
Many thanks for your wonderful but 100% sadly true post!
I just discovered, to my horror, that I am represented by the Coble thing (I just moved here).
I e-mailed him to make certain that he understands where I stand on the issue. At least I didn't (and won't) vote for him.
This district has a bunch of universities/colleges, but it is also mostly rural. You can't tell me that is a popular stand with anything but the big city-college-university crowd. What a weasel he is.
At least I know who to work against.
Much cloak-room wheeling and dealing for this one.
Here's a new pic of Johnson who got bumped from the photos upthread.
Unfortunately, I must agree with your statement.
Who are they, please list them.
The Dems are playing politics using the lives of American soldiers and Iraqis.
Why?
Because the early news is that we are winning in Iraq.
Watch the Dems go ballistic as Bagdad becomes peaceful, and the Iraqis go from a weak confederation constitution to a more federalist one. That outcome would mean that there likely will not be a Demoncrap president in 2008.Thats what is driving the Demoncraps NUTSO!
The Demoncraps have taken the bait, hook, line, and sinker.
They look and smell worse than a rotting corpse.
One of those traitors Thomas Petri of Wisconsin (my congressman) had NO Democrat opponent in the last election. Normally he votes with the President and party lines but this time somebody got to him. Any other Republican who runs against him will certainly not win the nomination for the seat by the party. I'd love for it to be his last term but this reality doesn't seem to be on the side of what's right.
Conservative Republicans need to write a binding counter resolution that would prosecute any rep who voted for this propaganda as traitors. punishment should be firing squad or deportation to a muslim/communist country of the prosecutor's choosing.
So CNN is admitting that the RATS in Congress are being divisive.
I thought they were opposed to that sort of thing.
