We get so many politicians who say one thing and then get in office and do something else altogether. With Rudy, what you see is what you get. He's the real deal.

Why do you make fun of Mr. Hunter on every thread?

I don't make fun of Hunter on every thread. I posted a legitimate question.

The laugh at the end was just me passing gas :-)

Those are good points and I think you outlined some of the reasons we haven't seen a Senator elected to the presidency since JFK. Congress doesn't run anything; they ruin a lot though. LOL

..remember, Jake, that was McCain's waterloo in 2000 IIRC

Giuliani is way to the left of McCain

My only regret," he told an aide, "was that I didn't throw him out myself

I love that!

Classic Rudy!

I've always seen Rudy Giuliani as a Joe Lieberman type of politico. Lieberman`s ACU lifetime rating is 17. They both support Bush`s prosecution of the WOT. Where would Rudy be in the ACU rating. About where Joe is. All liberals are alike. On social issues, Rudy maybe to the left of Joe. LOL

My John McCain (up close and personal) story, from the 2000 South Carolina Primary.

Greenville SC - the 2000 Presidential primary - John McCain had just beaten ‘W’ in the NH primary and the “Straight Talk Express” rolled into South Carolina.

I was a McCain supporter - positive that he was the real deal.

I drove to a McCain speech and public appearance. It was a day I will never forget as long as I live.

That day I witnessed John McCain behave unlike any appearance I had ever seen on TV - the man was unhinged.

After a 15 minute canned speech - he decided to address his competition in the primary - George W. Bush. He did so by beginning with, “I am Luke Skywalker, and my opponents are members of the Empire. Together we will form the rebellion and defeat Darth Vadar”. He yelled this - first pumping - his voice full of anger - his face - beet red - and his eyes - well - they were scary.

The crowd instantly went from supportive - to bewildered.

He obviously didn’t pick up on the mood change - because he went on for another 5 minutes - ranting and raving about how everyone was lying about his record - his views - and he, “wasn’t going to take it any more” (remember the movie Network).

It was surreal.

When he finished - and with the prodding of an aid - he left the stage, while we in the crowd just stood there - stunned - and honestly - completely confused.

I asked a woman next to me: “what the hell just happened?” She answered: “that man is freaking nuts!”

I came home - walked in the house - sat on the couch and just looked at the wall. I suddenly realized - the man pushed on television - was not the man at all.

I have told this story many times - to many people - and I have heard the same story told back to me by others who have seen similar John McCain episodes.

I am not given to criticize anyone lightly ladies and gentlemen.

I am sure John McCain is a good man - but listen to me - and please believe me.

JOHN MCCAIN is NOT FIT TO LEAD THIS NATION.

John McCain is unstable. John McCain is freaking nuts!

The other 2 are written by Reagan's son and McCaslin.

And we went to Michael's book signing at the Library and have our copy of "Making Waves"!

He appeared to get a hoot out of my comment about whether or not Fort Leavenworth would have the space for the future Clinton Presidential Library...

"This should be an interesting thread. I wonder if any FReepers have formed any kind of opinion on Rudy?"

I don't think so... I hear that Rudy and Hunter are peas in a pod... Don't know whether it will be Giuliani/Hunter '08... or Hunter/Giuliani '08.

Either way it's a middle of the road Republican ticket.

Fort Leavenworth!!! LOL. If only, huh?

My burning wish is to live long enough to make the trek to wherever Clinton is buried and spit on it.

Dennis Miller supports rudy?

That's ALL I need to know!

NOT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Miller has somewhat changed his evil liberal ways and opinions after 9-11, but he's STILL a liberal yankee at heart.

It's a safer bet for our RIGHT TO KEEP AND BEAR ARMS, and to HALT THE MURDER OF THE UNBORN, by just saying NO to any and all RINOs for Republican President.

Bailed out of the race against Hillary Clinton and then did nothing to help Rick Lazio. He couldn't take the heat in a race for New York State office

Fighting cancer doesnt sound like he bailed out of the race to me. I volunteered and worked for the Lazio campaign, and when he could Rudy made appearances for him. If anyone is to blame for Hillary winning it is the leadership if of the NY Republican party, they bailed out.

>>>>I just think those on FR that make definitive labels are being too narrow

Sorry. I'm no fence sitter. Most conservatives I know think Rudy is a liberal and Dennis Miller is a liberal. If that upsets you, so be it.

Liberal, libertarian, 'liberaltarian', whatever.

Conservative, they are NOT!
