James Fitzpatrick has a good article on this question over at Catholic Exchange...
"Would the late Russell Kirk think of Ann Coulter as a positive force in the conservative cause? It is not an easy question to answer. Kirk died in 1994, well before Coulter took center stage. Everyone knows her now. She is the willowy blonde queen of the wisecracking, populist brand of conservatism in vogue on the talk shows these days. She is also a best-selling author, with several books to her name. She once described the 9/11 widows who have become prominent critics of the war in Iraq as "broads" and "millionaires, lionized on TV and in articles about them, reveling in their status as celebrities." She added, "I've never seen people enjoying their husbands' deaths so much."

The libs dislike her - what better recommendation can anyone have? It's her badge of honor.
I'm sorry, but I'll side with the church of evolution over the wacky sideshow antics of fundamentalist creationists when they talk about the Earth being only 5,000 years old and then go into the concept of the Rapture.
The church of global warming and the church of creationism have one thing in common...deniers will be castigated!
You don't get a pass with that answer. I did not ask about promotion of expression. Although I fail to see how GWB has been a boon to freedom of expression unless you mean that he has brought about the most vile expressions of hatred for conservatives in my lifetime. What I asked, has GWB been good for the conservative movement?
Is there really a factual foundation for what she says? I would say no. I recall seeing an interview she had with a Canadian Journalist where she was adamant that Canada had been a big help to America in Vietnam, including sending large amount of troops. In actuallity, unless you count the 240 troops sent to monitor the cease fire, Canada sent no troops. They just sold us stuff to help in our war effort.
I'd say if one really wanted to assist the Conservative Movement, just stick to facts and avoid saying things that will undoubtably cause knee-jerk reactions.
What!?!
George W. Nixon is the antithesis of conservatism.
What a silly thing to ask. Love that woman!.
"Is there really a factual foundation for what she says?"
Yes.
Decrypted Soviet cables as large support for her McCarthy arguments, for one. Those are what as known as primary source documents.
The conservatives who sat on their hands to teach this congress a lesson instead learned their own lesson. That the country is more important than a pout fit, 50,000 votes would have made all of the difference.
Ultimately though, the lesson we have to get through the heads of Congress is that some things will not be forgiven and that if the National party wants to support gutless RINO Chaffee wannabees they will lose every time.
The Dems are still out thinking us and outmaneuvering us. We need more good ideas Ann.
For those of us who are sick and tired of hearing "my good friend on the other side," Ann Coulter is GREAT for conservatives, and has more guts than most. She calls a lie a "lie", not a "falsehood" or an "untruth".
You must the only Canadian journalist here, newbie.
No. She's a slightly less ugly, conservative version of Michael Moore or Al Franken.
I may be in a minority here, but I think she hurts the movement, give me someone like Thomas Sowell or William Buckley any day.
"I'm sorry, but I'll side with the church of evolution over the wacky sideshow antics of fundamentalist creationists when they talk about the Earth being only 5,000 years old and then go into the concept of the Rapture."
Well of course if you have read her book, you would know that Coulter does not even come close to mentioning those cartoonish....ahem... theories.
Her arguments were based on well known scientific disputes with Evolutionary theory, and NO, absolutely, I do not care to get even remotely close to one of the time vacuum Evolution-ID threads on FR.
If they can have Al Franken and Michael Moore we should have more Ann.
Has it ever occurred to you that since Franken and Moore are bad for honest debate in America, and maybe Ann is too?
On balance I think more people love her than hate her. She definitely has an Irish sense of overstatement and can't resist a good put-down.
When she's good, she's good. When she's bad, she's even better!

Sowell and Buckly are RINO's. They aren't throwing me enough red meat and telling me what I want to hear! /sarc
Of course she is. Pictures please.
What? Are you trying to imply I'm Canadian? I've been to Canada twice, really have no desire to go back. I do get Canadian channels on my tv, as I live in Washington a couple of hours from the border.

That's some of the footage.
