Congressman David Dreier Announces Support for Mayor Giuliani
Join Rudy 2008 ^ | Feb 13th, 2007 | Press Release

New York, Feb 13 -

In a sign of continuing momentum, the Rudy Giuliani Presidential Exploratory Committee today announced Congressman David Dreier, Chairman of the California Republican Congressional Delegation and House Rules Committee Ranking Republican, has announced his support for Mayor Rudy Giuliani to be the next President of the United States. Dreier’s endorsement follows the rousing reception Mayor Giuliani received at the California State Republican Convention and his successful swing through the state. Dreier will help lead Mayor Giuliani’s exploratory committee efforts in California.

Congressman Dreier said, “America needs the proven leadership of Rudy Giuliani to tackle the difficult challenges our country is facing. Not only does Mayor Giuliani have a record of results, he has a positive, optimistic vision that can unite our Party and our country for the greater good.

“I am proud to be supporting Mayor Rudy Giuliani for President and am looking forward to helping the exploratory committee’s efforts in any way I can,” concluded Dreier.

Mayor Rudy Giuliani welcomed the support from Congressmen Dreier. “I’m excited to have a Republican leader like Congressman Dreier on our team.” This endorsement comes on the heels of Congressman Pete Sessions and former Congresswoman Susan Molinari joining Team Rudy, as well as the previously announced support of California Congressman Devin Nunes and Congresswoman Mary Bono. More California endorsements will be announced later in the week.

But if a source is legitimate, it can still be in error.

It was not legitimate. It was clearly refuted. The mods agree with that assessment. The posters in question refused to provide links to back up their claims. Once called upon their falsehoods, both PhiKapMom and nopardons refuse to recant their slime campaign, and instead have the gall to say that telling the truth about Hunter gets you banned - which compounds their initial lies.

THAT is why I am ripping into them. It was bad enough that they lied about Hunter. Now they have compounded that lie by slandering FR.

I am at a loss to explain why conservatives wish to silence all other voices.

Many of our people refuse to act like adults. It's been this way for decades. Remember when Goldwater admonished conservatives to "grow up" at the 1960 convention?

You think DU members lurking here will instantly become born-again Christians when you post your spam?

What spam did I post? Be honest now. I'm not into spam. It's bad for my heart.

Why don't you stop preaching to people and just get the government out of our lives, there is that too hard for you purists to understand?

LOL. You gotta be kidding. For most of my adult life, except for military time, I ran my own business, paid cash for my kids to go to college, I own my own road to my own house which I plow with my own 20 year old Jeep Wrangler and protect with my even older weapons. What you preach is the way I live.

PS: But government has a purpose and one of those purposes is to defend and provide for the weakest among us, you know like unborn babies and the scissors thing.

Rudy WOULD HAVE VETOED IT BY HIS OWN STATEMENTS.

But he didn't because he wasn't President so your point is moot.

And you have the GALL to blame the Republicans in Congress?

They had every opportunity to eliminate abortion simply by introducing a Constitutional ban shortly after Roe vs Wade. The fact is that they & the pro-life movement got complacent and lazy rather than striking while the iron was hot. They let themselves get defined by the pro-abortionists, who had the upper-hand until the late-90s. The result is 40+ million dead babies. So blaming this on Giuliani is completely ridiculous.

Is there any limit to the depravity of the Rudy boosters in their false and scurrilous attacks on those who harbor some semblence of principles that they are willing to foresake?

We're not allowed to cheer on our candidate? Look, we don't come onto Hunter threads and trash him. I've never called Hunter names or attacked him personally. I have mentioned his liberal voting record though, which strangely always results in crickets chirping from his supporters. It's hard to run as a conservative when you've been in Congress for 26 years & voted for Ted Kennedy's education bill and Bush's Medicare D boondoggle.

I tend to look it as a smear campaign. What a person does in their own household is their business, what they do in the public square is my business.

Except for the niggling detail THAT HE IS NOW RUNNING FOR PRESIDENT.

They had every opportunity to eliminate abortion simply by introducing a Constitutional ban shortly after Roe vs Wade.

Please - read the Constitution. It takes a 2/3rds majority to initiate an amendment.

You never cease to amaze with your depravity in disparaging conservatives.

Then demonstrate the lies and move on. Both are long time freepers, and deserve some slack, even if they believe Hunter is a slimeball.

I'm not trying to defend either or whatever it was they posted, but chew it up, spit it back at them, and work on the people who are open to Hunter's campaign. You've done your due diligence. There has been a TON of BS posted on FR since I've been here, and that's how I address it.

The president outlawed PBA, there's not much Rudy can do or say on the matter. You're wasting everyone's time, including your own, by kicking this dead horse.

But government has a purpose and one of those purposes is to defend and provide for the weakest among us, you know like unborn babies and the scissors thing.

So how about contacting your Congressman or Senator then and push to end abortion that way rather than straightjacketing a presidential candidate who'll have little or no impact over the issue anyway and one that doesn't rank high in the overall minds of voters.

That's not true. nopardons and ameribrit did just that. Ameribrit got banned or suspended.

I did.

They continue to claim that telling the truth about Hunter gets you banned on FR. If they stopped telling that lie, I would move on. So get after them.

I'm talking about ALL of the SPAM and said so.

You know full well what has and still is being posted. But just keep on lying and wasting bandwidth.

And believe what you want, that that was refuted; it wasn't.

But as I've said, by all means, keep on with these tactics; please do not stop. Gather your group together and continue to make FR the land of SPAM and i/2 truths and intimidation.

Hmmm. Rudy wants to be president. If he wins, he will be sitting in the Oval Office with a pen and a veto stamp.

Now let's say the Dems send him a bill repealing the PBA ban. And he has said all along that he is opposed to such.

Viola, he signes it and it passes with a simple majority! Instead of being vetoed and requiring a 2/3rds majority to pass!

Thank you SO MUCH for demonstrating yet again why Rudy should NOT BE PRESIDENT!

Disparaging conservatives - Ha! All I'm saying is that there's a better way for Republicans to win elections. You focus on the need for a strong military and promoting individual responsibility by reducing the size of government, and the abortions and such will take care of themselves.

You and the anti-Rudy folks are simply putting the cart before the horse.

You've told them that was untrue, in no uncertain terms. You cannot get people to believe you if they refuse to do so. So I invite you to concentrate on the ones that can be brought over to our side, not the ones that are entrenched on the other. I'll wager most freepers believe something untrue about some candidate or another.

Wow. This is the ugliest thread I've ever seen on Free Republic.

And I'm copying it and e-mailing it to some staunchly conservative friends. It will so turn them off how the so-called purists are acting that they'll vote for Rudy. LOL

We've seen direct posts to the open forum that the kind of tactics engaged in here have made people decide to support Rudy. I say we let them act as immature and ugly as they want.

It's unfortunate for FR in general because it doesn't represent conservatism in a very Christian light, but if the forum owner doesn't mind that he's being used, there's nothing we can do about it.

If one is not true to one's conscience, particularly a well thought out mature adult one, then one has a character flaw, and cannot really engender my respect. I for one, will never put one down for being true to what gives their lives moral meaning, what gives their lives a sense of purpose. I might disagree with their policy positions, and say so, but it will not be in a disrespectful way.

Think about it, and perhaps you might consider withdrawing your remarks. I say that as one who is probably more comfortably overall with Rudy's positions, than you are.
