Bush Aides Like What They See In Guiliani

While the White House is taking a hands-off approach to the 2008 GOP presidential primaries so far, former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani is quietly seeing an administration cheerleading section grow.

One insider said that it is built on the fact that Giuliani continues to beat Sen. John McCain in the polls and also because he is offering to stick with several Bush programs, including an aggressive stance against terrorists, and promises to name conservative judges to the court. One Bush official today noted Giuliani's pledge to nominate conservative judges and applauded the New Yorker for making that claim in liberal California.

"He didn't back away just because he was in California. In fact, he went there to make that statement. That's a very important signal," said the insider. Interestingly, even White House conservatives are showing support for Giuliani.

"He's the front-runner, and he's doing everything so far very good," said another official. "He isn't bending to what people want to hear. He kind of sounds like Bush did in 2000."

Well said and kudos!!

It must just about kill the spammers that a lot of conservative reporters and political pundits have basically said that if Rudy's a Rino, maybe we're all in the wrong party. LOL

And I just love these weenie men whining that we should leave the forum. They sound like Democrat DC metrosexuals crying "Mommy, mommy, please make them leave. They like a Republican candidate I don't like."

Spiff;

Let me tell you something, buster. If I KNEW how to make a chart - I'd show you a thing or two, lol.

Seriously, the first 15 items or so on your list are obviated by one thing - the appointment of conservative judges. Rudy respects the constitution and the laws of this land, and that's all I need to know about his stand on social issues.

Your chart gives equal weight to a myriad of issues, which decidedly weakens it's impact. Equating the importance of the war in Iraq with civil unions? I don't think so.

And where are tax cuts and tax policy on your chart? Didn't fit the bill, I suppose.

Look, it's a nice chart; serves your interests and is very colorful to boot, but it's NOT a powerful tool.

Oh, and as to spamming. Since when is having a respectful discourse on differing points-of-view spamming? I must have missed that memo. If I'm banned because I support Rudy, a Republican candidate, then this forum is much further right than I anticipated. Like, SCARY-further right.

" If we, as a party, loose our moral underpinnings we loose our reason for being. A Republican Party minus it's socially conservative wing will be a perpetual loser and I pray that doesn't happen."

IMO The social conservative issues are the heart of the Republican party. Like any other body, if you remove the heart it will die.

If that's our heart, maybe that's why we're losing our fannies.

Titans;

Thank you for a well-reasoned response. That's what dialogue should be.

I seem to remember Bush saying he would sign a renewal of the assault weapon ban if it came across his desk. Rudi would do much worse and say its what the people want. If you don't believe in the BOR you shouldn't be president. There is still a bridge for sell in Brooklyn.

Those that lose do so because they fail to follow the entire platform. Social conservatives are a large block of the base, you'll never win nationally without them.

Actually most of the key people in the Bush campaign that you could trust (that leaves out the ad guy) are lining up on Rudy's side including the big fundraiser types.

All you had to do was see T. Boone Pickens and Tom Ricks to know which way the wind was blowing. :)

"And you constantly posting that is supposed to do what????"

It's supposed to alert you all to get a clue just whose forum it is that you are using to promote a Pro-choice candidate for POTUS..

Can you at least respect that much?

If they ban people merely for supporting Giuliani, I'll be disgusted. I am not interested in seeing this site degenerate into an echo chamber where no one dare express themselves for fear of being banned for holding a contrary opinion.

I AM WELL AWARE OF WHO'S FORUM THIS IS. That is why I follow his rules (not yours), his rules only and respect that. I would like you all to show me and the others where he said - no more Rudy posts.

Well I am hoping it doesn't get like that too. If it does then most of the Rudy people will leave according to JR's wishes and we will respect that. If that happens, than that will be a loss for Free Republic.

It will end Free Republic. The strength of this place was and is that it is not an echo chamber. If it merely becomes a sounding board for Hunter '08, then an essential element of dynamism will be lost.

I am pretty irritated that there are those who are running around with schoolyard threats as well: basically suggesting that if one doesn't agree with JimRob politically, that one is necessarily going to be banned. That's the last resort of a tired mind.

Regards, Ivan
