Views of Giuliani put GOP to the test

His moderate stands on social issues part with conservative base

.......On the first day of his five-day California swing, a blog popular with state conservatives, Flash Report.org, posted a YouTube clip from a February 2000 Meet the Press in which Giuliani boasts that no public official in the nation is "more strongly pro-immigrant than I am."

For conservatives who want a president who will crack down on illegal immigration, that sort of talk is very troubling.

"That's a big mistake," said Linda Sutter, 50, of Crescent City, Calif., who supports Giuliani because "I feel secure with him." After learning about his positions on immigration and other issues, the retired correctional officer acknowledged that she was "not completely informed. ... Some of those things might stop me from voting for him."

Even those who have joined his campaign acknowledge that their knowledge of his views is sketchy.....

1. After eight years as Mayor, NY remained a high tax socialist hellhole. There goes his "fiscal conservative" bonafides.

2. Has a long history of questionable friends (Bernie Kerick, Ray Harding). There goes the "honesty" card.

3. Has a history of abandoning women when a new gal catches his eye. At least BC remained married. There goes the "moral integrity" card.

4. Lived with two gay roomates after divorce. Not that there's anything wrong with it. ;-)

5. Is on the record CONDEMNING the 1996 immigration reforms and Prop 187, stating that "NY thrives because of immigrants, documented and UNdocumented. There goes the "securing our borders card."

6. Has a history of being vehemently anti-gun, claiming that the 2nd amendment allows for "reasonable regulation." Of course, this is fitting for a law and order fetishist.

7. The last point illustrates that he has little understanding of "original intent."

8. Pro-abortion.

9. Governed a city where the majority of inhabitants are either effete yuppies, third world immigrants, or the children of the latter. There goes the "I am an American" card.

10. Has said NOTHING about foreign policy, other than superficial sound bites and Likud Party talking points (plagiarist!). So much for "Mr. National Security."

11. Had VERY low approval ratings until 9/11 happenned, due to a lack of ethics, and clumsy handling of police shootings. There goes the "competance" card.

After thinking about it, if those were ever to come to be my choices I will write-in Jim Robinson. That way they will know exactly why I voted as I did.

I'd believe your idiot list if you at least gave Rudy credit for changing NYC into the wonderful place it is today. Yeah, I know all you do is list all the negative things about your husband or mate and can't find a good thing about them. Sorry, but that's the impression you leave. :)

Didn't Giuliani say that the Iraq war was a bad idea??? He can't be trusted, even with the War on Terror, and especially any wars/possible coldwar with North Korea or larger powers such as China or Russia.

Are you insane or willfully ignorant? He's been one of it's biggest supporters since day 1.

If Hunter or Newt cannot pull off a dark horse upset, then it will be Romney by default. Rudy and McCain don't have a shot.

Reagan had the base with him and then got the Independents and Dems. There's the difference.

Yadda, Yadda Yadda, Noo Yawk is a great city because of Mayor Linguine D---.

I have lived most of my life in and around NYC. The fact remains that:

1. It remains a high tax hellhole.

2. It remains a sh-t place to open a business, with regulations and taxes that would make a native of the former Yugoslavia feel at home.

3. 95% of the population is comprised of effete yuppies and third worlders who have about as much a concept of Americanism and limited government as Ted Kennedy has of sobriety.

Thanks for your service to the country.

Same to those in your family that have served, or are serving.

My vote goes in this order
1 Duncan Hunter
2 Mitt
3 Newt
4 McCain
5 Rudy

Rudy is a dead last resort if its against Hillary/Obama and me knowing Rudy cant directly effect abortion laws if he's in office just like Bush has no direct effect on making it against the law. I expect my lawmakers in Congress to make the laws preventing abortion so my litmus test goes there. I also believe Rudy would nominate a conservative to the court if put in the position. Hillary/Obama would put in a freak lefty.
