Some in party believe he (Giuliani) can win in California
San Diego Union Tribune ^ | Feb. 11, 2007 | John Marelius

Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani, still basking in his can-do post-Sept. 11 image, got a rousing welcome yesterday from Republican activists searching for a presidential candidate who can win in California.

No Republican presidential candidate has carried California since the elder George Bush did in 1988, and no one has even run a competitive race in the increasingly Democratic-leaning state since then.

Republicans are hopeful they have prospects in the large 2008 field who can reverse the trend by combining liberal and conservative stands that has proven so successful for Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.

“The popularity of the governor shows that you can take the positions that he holds and win in California,” said Duf Sundheim, outgoing Republican state chairman. “I think Giuliani has the same opportunity.”

As for Giuliani, backers say his record on reducing crime and taxes in New York should give conservatives plenty to like. He was introduced to the convention yesterday by businessman Bill Simon, the 2002 Republican nominee for California governor who once worked under Giuliani in the U.S. Attorney's Office in New York.

Simon said that as mayor, Giuliani cut taxes 23 times and reduced the city's murder rate by 67 percent. “That is a record that as a conservative Republican, I can heartily endorse,” he said.

No, I missed that one. LOL

Dan Rather only wished that he had such concrete, indisputable proof!

"Oh, I see, then they CAN get a gun. Proving yourself wrong is so nice of you to do."

Yeah, whatever. Your denial, ingnorance and a complete lck of concern about the matter shows.

" One FREEPER, ONE said that he lost his guns. Do you know how many N.Y.C. FREEPERS there are here? "

Apparently none of them have any guns. The link I gave ain't the only one. He's just the only one that mentioned it, on the board, so I gave ya that link.

"Many and not another has ever said that their guns were taken away."

As I said, they don't own guns, and I'll add, that like you, they could care less.

The President (damn, I have to explain again!) does not confiscate guns. Congress does. If you don't want your guns taken, elect conservative (mostly Republican) Representatives and Senators. The President cannot, singlehandedly, accomplish gun control!

And just HOW do you know that absolutely NO OTHER NEW YORK FREEPERS OWN ANY GUNS? Have you sought them all out and asked them? If so, then please ping every single N.Y.C. FREEPER to this thread.

No, not a few, not guesses, EVERY SINGLE SOLITARY NEW YORK CITY FREEPER, which had better include every single one that also lived in N.Y.C.; EVER! I double dog dare ya; DO IT!

You can't, but this should be a fun exercise; though not for you. ;^)

If a law states that you must, prior to an effective date of an Ordinance, was legally in possession of an assault weapon or large capacity magazine prohibited by this section shall have 90 days from the effective date of the ordinance to do any of the following without being subject to prosecution hereunder:

(1) To remove the assault weapon or large capacity magazine from within the limits of the County; or

(2) To modify the assault weapon or large capacity magazine either to render it permanently inoperable or to permanently make it a device no longer defined as an assault weapon or large capacity magazine; or

(3) To surrender the assault weapon or large capacity magazine to the Sheriff or his designee for disposal as provided below.

Do you, or do you not, believe that laws should be obeyed?

Please don't tell me that there are "bad laws", nor that some laws should be changed. Just a simple yes or no will suffice.

Do we want a President who does not believe citizens should be armed? Rudy Guiliani does not believe in firearms ownership by the average person.

I suppose we'll have to hear a lot of people on this site argue "We have to win the election even if it costs us our right to bear arms."

I have almost NO knowledge of HTML...

What I am asking for requires no HTML knowledge--simply a source of the PDF document you referred to in support the allegation that he is "under investigation by the FBI". If it is "from the government", certainly you can tell me the agency, the date, etc. Did you get the PDF file online? If so, you could certainly tell me the website, or even type in the link: (http://www... etc.) I was taking you at your word from the other night, when you said if you located them, you would let me know:

As I recall, the articles dealt mostly with Cunningham and mentioned Wikles, but also said something about Hunter still being investigated. The Abramoff was a throwaway line or two.

Since it wasn't what I was actually looking for, I didn't save the articles.....though I do remember most of what was in them. I'm still trying to find out more about his terrible stand on trade, so if I see those articles again, I shall send you mail.

"And just HOW do you know that absolutely NO OTHER NEW YORK FREEPERS OWN ANY GUNS?"

It's my business to know what goes on. The FReepers I pinged on this thread are cluless in the matter. The couple that I do know from the gun threads moved out of NYC, because of the grabbing. They acknowledged thoughout the years, that getting a handgun license in NYC is nearly impossible. Nearly, because you must know someone. Just like Chicago.

"Have you sought them all out and asked them? If so, then please ping every single N.Y.C. FREEPER to this thread."

Your logic isn't very good.

In that case I would have to say, they better be careful who is sending them those "mailers". It is conceivable that Dims would be using that info. Would they rather vote for a Hillary, or one of her Dim clones?

In Oklahoma, we have C/C, too, and a lot of other gun rights, but we look at a strong War on Terror policy as well. The two are closely linked in my book. Protecting your family is protecting your family, no matter what the threat--domestic or foreign.

Incidentally, being an Okie, I remember a "domestic terrorism" threat that was pretty "terrifying". One of the perpetrators had some fairly significant links to your state, if I remember correctly.

No, my logic is exemplary; your debate skills, OTOH.........

It's your business? Are you a gun dealer? Do you sell guns all over the USA?

I never said the FBI.

I haven't been back to look at the file today, Why don't YOU try to find it? :-)

Did you take away from that, that I was going to go looking for the files IMMEDIATELY? Where did I say that?

"No, my logic is exemplary; your debate skills, OTOH.

No, your logic is faulty. I gave you an authoritative link that indicates the situation in NYC, and to the testimony of a FReeper that's had his license, that he held since '78 in NYC denied renewal. As a result, his guns were confiscated. He was denied, because of policies instituted by Rudy Giuliani himself. That is sufficient evidence to make my point.

"Are you a gun dealer?"

No.

Why is it your business? That IS what you said.

WHY IS IT YOUR BUSINESS TO KNOW WHAT EVERY SINGLE N.Y.C. FREEPER HAS TO SAY ABOUT HIS OR HER GUNS?

And you do NOT know; do you? You don't even know who every single FREEPER is, who now or ever lived there, nor whether they all or none or some of them has or had a gun.

One,ONE FREEPER, is the ONLY one you know; that's it.

That makes you an "expert", does it? LOL

IMO there are enough uneasy people in the vast unwashed center who will vote for a tough, strong candidate like Rudy.

I never said the FBI.

You are right... you said "under investigation by the DOJ", not FBI. My mistake.

I haven't been back to look at the file today, Why don't YOU try to find it? :-)

Without knowing what one is looking for, that is literally impossible. You are the one who said it, I assumed you would back it up.

Did you take away from that, that I was going to go looking for the files IMMEDIATELY? Where did I say that?

No, but since you found them, I assumed you would keep your word.

You're yelling. I said I've been on the gun threads, there's NY FReepers there sometimes. nopardons is never there.

It means I know what I'm talking about.
