On the February 9th broadcast of Hannity & Colmes, Alan Colmes made an outrageous and poisonous statement that was not corrected on air.
Speaking to Oliver North, Colmes supported Congressman John Murtha's ugly and destructive lie that, "no question about it", Marines in Haditha had "killed innocent civilians in cold blood".
Defending the indefensible, Colmes told the viewers that there have been "confessions and convictions" in the Haditha Marine case.
Now Darryl Sharratt, the father of a Haditha Marine has a question:
"I would like to ask Alan Colmes where he got his information. There have been no convictions. There have been no confessions."
On the February 10th broadcast of Kit Jarrell's The Front Line, Mr. Sharratt stated, "Evidently, he is not doing the research to be on national television. He comes out in front of millions of people and makes this statement and it is 100% wrong."
So what now, Fox News?
If Mr. Colmes' false assertion continues to be left uncorrected, Fox News will contribute to a tainted jury pool, cause additional pain to the families, and mislead supporters and potential donors to the Haditha Marine defense funds. Through his statement, Mr. Colmes reached millions of people with the message that guilt has already been established.
Fox News and Alan Colmes must make amends...
1. Fox News owes its viewers the opportunity to hear from Darryl Sharratt or other Haditha Marine family members to set the record straight. None of the Haditha Marines have yet faced a hearing. Anything that is known about the case or the investigation has been leaked by prosecutors and politicians. The media has been complicit in this and it must stop now.
2. Alan Colmes owes the Marines and their families an apology. I suggest he make it in the form of a donation to any of the Haditha Marine Defense Funds. (For Mr. Colmes' convenience, all the information he needs about fund donations is here).
These are fair requests to make of a news channel long supported by patriots. Now it's up to Alan Colmes and Fox News.

Hi Red , the gitwort hasn't emailed back to me after I told him he needed to go hang out with Bill & Sean after work if they would let him. efg ~~P~~
ping
What I want to ask him is was he forced to leave his home planet?
I have sent my emails.
Red......You are truly impressive. I would be more than pleased to have you cover my back any day of the week.
Thank you for all that you do for our guys.
If he emails me again I promise to ask him. I am wondering why he even answered me back. He must not be able to phone home like ET. I just wish they would beam him back up to wherever planet he came from. Why do I seem to get the loonies all the time?? ~~P~~
Do you remember Colmes when his face was as pocked as the moon? We called him Bird Meat. It kind of went like this; whenever he came on the screen my bro and I would say 'birrrrrrrrd meeeeeeeat.' And his wife would roll her eyes and go "Oh, gawd." LOL
As for Colmes his repugnant behavior is not an anomaly for him or Murtha or a dozen other Democratics who put those warriors, and us, in greater danger with their every foul utterance. I will never forget what the heroes or the traitors have done.
Thank you for that. I lived through the '60s when traitors were routinely glorified and good men and women vilified. I hate like anything to be living through that again. But it's consoling that truth will out and people do not forget.
I remember throwing a lot of high speed dodge balls at guys like Colmes!
They shoot horses, don't they! Murtha, less soul than a horse!
Thanks to Darryl Sharratt for standing up for his son and the other accused Haditha Marines. It would be great to see Mr. Sharratt on with Hannity & Colmes along with Jack Murtha to set the record straight.
Maybe Mr. Sharratt could ask Murtha why he has aided the prosecution's case with so much free publicity, but hasn't lifted a finger or minute of free publicity to the defense. Maybe Mr. Sharratt could ask Mr. Murtha what recourse he has when his own representative won't return requests for help. Maybe he could ask Mr. Murtha to show some fairness now by donating to the Marines' defense fund, along with Colmes, then give a good plug for the appropriate website.
I doubt Mr. Murtha would want to face the father of one of the Marines he has already pronounced guilty, but that as well could be used in a segment by saying that Mr. Murtha was invited, but didn't want to answer a concerned father and contituent's questions. This has the opportunity for some must see TV. (Of course I'd bring the lawyer, too.)
America needs to see the other side of this case, not just Mr. Murtha's or the media' side. It's an uphill battle, but Marines are known for fighting and winning the tough ones.
Thanks for posting this. I sent my e-amil to Hannity.
I suggest that anyone sending an e-mail: Do not just cut and paste from the article; put the request for correction into your own words. Your message will get a lot more attention this way.
Most people don't think of the fathers of these Marines as dads like yours or mine. They go to work everyday, stop for a beer in the local bar or coffee at the diner. And suddenly, everyone is looking at them with suspicion, hatred, or just plain unease. Anyone who thinks the media doesn't matter isn't in the real world of staff meetings and grocery store check-out lines.
That's largely why I think it's so important that family members get air time on places like Fox. There's another side to the story that no one is telling outside of Free Republic.
e-mail sent. Thanks for the flag.
That's an excellent observation, Bigg. I wrote a slew of e-mails and varied them (including the subject lines) each time. Spam is easy to dismiss.
Sent my e-mail. Please ping me if there is a correction/retraction on Hannity & Colmes.
Count on it.
Semper Fi Mr. Sharrat and tell your son to keep his butt down and his spirits up.
I'll be sending e-mails today.
Thanks, Vel. We've also alerted all the defense lawyers in the case. Hopefully, Roger Ailes and the other Fox folks will be hearing from them, too.
