"I used gun control as mayor," he said at a news conference Saturday during a swing through California. But "I understand the Second Amendment. I understand the right to bear arms."

But won't we need hundreds of new government employees as the criminals -- there's got to be ten or twenty million of them -- rush to register or turn in their guns?

Golly gee. I hope President Giuliani gives them enough time. I'm sure they don't want any more bad marks on their records.

Maybe he could arrange for temporary Mexican help as part of his lucrative contracts with his Mexican associates.

Regulating consistent with the 2nd Amendment would be no regulations at all. And hunting? Yes in the sense that the 2nd guarantees our right to bear arms to hunt politicians who abuse power, erode our rights and destroy the Republic... whenever that time comes. I suspect we need that right much more today than did the first generations of the United States.

"I understand the Second Amendment. I understand the right to bear arms."

"I just choose to ignore it when it's convenient."

He said what he did as mayor would have no effect on hunting.

Clear evidence he just doesn't get it.

Another nitwit politician that doesn't get it. In the mayor's world when someone gets a gun they automatically want to commit a crime.

ANY politician that equates the second amendment with hunting is a lying POS.

I will NOT be voting for Guliani!!!

Who gives a shit about "hunting"? We want guns for self-defense. I am so sick of this "hunting" nonsense. That is not what the 2nd Amendment is all about.

Question: If what Rudy says is true, then why is it we see statistics for crime decrease in states where CC laws are present?

Answer: Rudy is a liberal if he is a moderate. The liberal definition of gun control is removing them from the hands of law abiding citizens. Criminals love gun control, because they are NOT law abiding. In New York, if you want to carry a fire arm, and correct me if I'm wrong, you have to justify it by indicating you are in physical danger as well as carrying large sums of money for one reason or another.

Synopsis: Rudy is not the answer - nor should he hold the office of President, because he and a liberal congress will attempt to strip us of our rights to protect life, limb, and personal happiness.

What does the 2nd Amendment have to do with hunting?
I thought his drop in crime was due to his crackdown on street thugs.

Well, all the "unappeasable" can forget about saying fruity Rudy can't take a stand on the tough issues!

He agrees with a law that has been on the books longer than he has been alive.

Giuliani: Gun control helped lower crime.

Bravo Sierra.

Putting away repeat offenders really lowers the crime rate.

"You have to have secure borders, you have to have a fence, and the fence I think has to be a highly technological one." - Rudy Giuliani

Barely two months after the September 11 attacks, New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg stated his commitment to preserve the Big Apple as a formal sanctuary for illegal aliens. "People who are undocumented do not have to worry about city government going to the federal government," Bloomberg vowed.

This assurance was stunning coming from the new mayor of a city still covered in rubble as a result of foreign terrorists who exploited our lax immigration policies at every turn. But Bloomberg was simply following in the bipartisan footsteps of his predecessors. New York City's sanctuary policy was created in 1989 by Mayor Ed Koch and upheld by every mayor succeeding him.

When Congress enacted immigration reform laws that forbade local governments from barring employees from cooperating with the INS, Mayor Rudy Giuliani filed suit against the feds in 1997. He was rebuffed by two lower courts, which ruled that the sanctuary order amounted to special treatment for illegal aliens and were nothing more than an unlawful effort to flaunt federal enforcement efforts against illegal aliens. In January 2000, the Supreme Court rejected his appeal, but Giuliani vowed to ignore the law.

The Twin Towers are gone and Giuliani is out of office, but the city's policy of safe harbors for illegal immigrants stands.

By making lightweight statements such as these, all Guiliani is doing is running to the right for the nomination. Ditto Romney and McPain. Their task right now is to deceive the conservative Repub base. They've already got the Rino leaning moderate Repubs in their pocket. Once in office, you'll see their true identity.

Duncan Hunter, on the other hand, is the real deal. He is a consistent conservative. I am for him all the way.

OK, somebody please cut past Rudy's double-talk, and please answer some basic questions...

- Can you have any laws or regulations on guns and still honor the Second Amendment? In the same way you don't interpret free speech to allow for you to yell 'fire' in a theatre, isn't there some room for laws concerning guns? IF so, what kind of gun laws are OK, what kind are not? (Obviously, for example, a 9 year old boy shouldn't run around with a loaded gun. But should any adult be free to hold a gun in Time Square?)

- Regardless of the constitutional question... does the argument that gun control cuts down crime in a major crowded city carry any weight? I have to admit this is a tough one to argue with friends.

Honestly, I don't have an agenda on this... just asking some basic questions!

Best regards,
-- Joe Republc
