Good morning, Alas.
I'm interested in Duncan Hunter's appearance and also finding out which side the General is on.
They've got too much invested in this story. They won't let it die regardless of what the facts are.
Morning AB....all.
This week we have the saga of the garage door.
Indeed.
For I was entering the garage after mass yesterday, just doing my thing, hurting no one.
From my car, thanks to God Bless America, I can actually press a button IN the car to close the garage door once I am safely ensconced inside. Which I did.
All of a sudden the cacaphony would deafen the dead. Of course I screamed as I was convinced that I'd somehow left my Jeep sticking out past the closing door and the terrible, screechy sounds were the decibals caused by a Jeep getting crushed silly by a runaway garage door.
Husband, then inside the house without a clue, hears my feminine screams and comes to the rescue. Heh. Well HE don't know what the hell happened either but he keeps telling me to calm down. Which I did not.
I am, naturally, scared to look as who wants to see their beloved Jeep Liberty squashed like a bug? Husband, still with his finger over his lips as body language indicator that I should stop my screaming, walks softly toward the garage doors, now silent and still.
Husband hits the button inside the garage to open the door and boom, it opens. Only it opens only about five inches then stops. The Jeep, by the way, is fine, far from the garage door and whatever caused that hellacious noise.
We both scrutinize the garage door all over, wondering just why it will only open five inches and what the hell was all that noise. On the OTHER side of the garage door, which I logically accessed by going outside from inside the house, all kinds of chains and shit are hanging down in front of the garage door. This, I knew deep in my homeowner's finely honed instinct, was not a good sign.
Well it turns out that the "spring" on the garage door snapped, boom, just like that. Looking up from the garage floor, one can clearly see that this spring thing, a full three or four feet long by my measure, is broke right in two. Once the spring stops turning to pull the chains and stuff that pulls the door open and shut, well that's pretty much that.
Husband does some Internet research all the while I am doing what any normal female would do under the circumstances...I demand that he fix it immediately. Hey, my Jeep is STUCK inside the garage and husband informs me that the manual over-ride will NOT work with that spring broken like it is. Husband then informs me that these springs last about 7000 opens/closes and it was evidently time for this one to, heh, "spring". And don't forget this cold weather which is wreaking all kinds of havoc around here, not that I'm alone.
I figger if worse comes to worse, I can always fire up that Jeep, get it revved to full potential, and BUST my way out of that garage. Husband, meanwhile, is going to provide me a number to call to get it fixed. Whatever but somehow I know this is going to cost bucks.
On another note, husband also has informed me, solemnly, that he is NOT the father of Anna Nicole Smith's baby. So I must ask all yon fellows now, come on, tell the truth....any possible fathers out there you're not telling us about? Come on, join the crowd.
The MSM always circle the wagons to protect one of their own.
On Mathews' show, Time's Joel Klein was predicting a little quake in the senate - with Lieberman switching party.
I'd be surprised if he mentioned it at all.
Did he give any indication as to why that would occur?
However, he hasn't seemed turtle-esque in his dealings with the Dems, unlike his predecessors. Perhaps he can adopt the University of Maryland's war cry if continues to show leadership.
Yes, he is angry with the direction dems are going and he was saying that would happen soon. There was an AP report that the admn. showed Iran's involvement in Iraq with proof to some congress members and Lieberman said he saw CLEAR proof in that.
Oh man if that did happen the thread about it on DU would be hysterical.
Man, I have been reading about Russert and here's a synopsis of my understanding of his testimony...
Scooter says Russert was the first one to tell him about Val Plame. Russert testified before Fitz' grand jury and cooperated fully. Evidently Russert told the grand jury that he didn't know Plame's identity until AFTER the date Scooter said Russert told him. Thus Scooter must be lying, right? Not that Tim Russert would lie or anything.
Only Andrea Mitchell, of all people, is going to be called soon and she has said, on the air and in print, that everyone at NBC knew Plame's identity. We assume here that "everyone" would include Russert. The prosecution is fighting a call of Mitchell to the stand tooth and nail.
Meanwhile, it would seem that Russert cooperated with Fitz only Russert didn't tell his bosses at NBC. THEY came out with a public statement denying any involvement by Russert with Fitz' grand jury but it was a lie. Either NBC is lying or Russert is lying.
I've been following this case right along, folks, and still I am amazed that this joke of a trial goes on, now having cost millions of dollars that could buy a lot of homes for Katrina victims. Yet not one congress critter does anything to stop this joke.
Then again, maybe this is part of the plan. For sure all those journalists, whose testimony is automatically assumed to be the truth while Libby, hey he MUST be lying, right...are being exposed for the liars they are. Including, VERY MUCH, including Tim Russert. I predict when this is over Russert's credibility will take a big, big hit. Man might even lose his job.
Important thing here, DON'T believe any Lamestream reports about this trial. There are Bloggers at the trial and a few are doing a bang up job. The Lamestream is lying through its teeth about what's going on. Hey, even Fitz' D.C. Grand Jury is publicly stating they have second thoughts about the conviction.
And Russert, ladies and gems, is in deep, deep, deep.
Thanks again for the thread AB. Congratulations to last weeks winners and good morning everyone.
I took some time before parts of the MSM was dragged kicking and screaming into covering Rather's phony documents.
We already had Anna Nicole mentioned. I wondered how long Lisa Nowak would take to show....however tangentially....
;-)
Fishtalk,
Just a note about what a garage door repair guy told me about springs. My house is new so it wasn't to get me to buy a spring. I was just asking him questions when he was working on my door under warranty.
He said that he often sees the second spring break not too long after the first. You can save yourself some money if you repair both at the same time. He says most people don't do repair both at the same time....but if it is time for one to go....it follows that the other may soon.
Take it for what it is worth.
Prayers for you dad.
Remember when looking after others to take time out to look after yourself. If you wear yourself out then when he needs your help next time you might not be in the best shape to help. Stop, breath, rest. Beyond helping him, you're far too special for us here to have you stress out.
