Oh yeah--I should have added "with Republicans" to the end of my question.

LOL! I saw those invisible words on your comment!
They always do.
What was "historic" about it? Wasn't Shirley Chisholm the first African American Democrat Presidential candidate?
That was in 1972, over 30 years ago.
LOL
Great Nuggest, as usual, anita. Thanks
I'm especially encouraged by the indicators of some backlash inside the DBM against the grotesque excesses this week.
I'm going to write to the NY Times praising Burns, NBC praising Allard (with yet another complaint about Arkin) and to the AP and LA Times praising them for their courage in exposing Dingy Harry.
We have to be as effusive with our praise when they do right as with our criticism when they do wrong. In fact, since they do wrong and we therefore criticize them far more often than they do right, we should be especially strong in our praise when it is warranted.
Thanks and sorry again it was so late - busy week and the problems when I intended to sort it.
He sure as hell got under Bubba's skin with his facial expressions.
Broder is now going on about what an arresting figure Obama is. Compares to Kennedy but says pretty soon Obama's going to have to put some policy meat on the bones.
Timmy plays Obama saying he'll serve his term as senator. I don't like Obama (obviously), but changing your mind because things change does not make you a liar.
Oh, Timmy is impressed by the fact that Obama was not being coy and excuses what would be called a flip flop in someone else. It was a pro-Obama piece.
None will switch, because Collins will become committee chairman and they know they get more airtime in media if they come against the admn.
Too funny that Karl Cameron is reporting that PM of Austrailia is saying that AQ wants Obama in the White House. I read the article here, but it is GREAT to hear about it on the air. This is good, because maybe the panel will discuss it. Where is Brit? He hasn't been on air much this week, and is MIA from the panel today.
Sounds like the DBM is trying to hide the facts. I'm headed for Church in a few, so won't be back on here until after noon.
He should qualify that with the Americans he knows and talks to everyday.
There should be a rule among serious journalists that says you don't spend air time on stupid questions like, "last year you said you wouldn't run, why are you now running?"
But I guess this is how Timmah gets to show he's "tough with everyone."
I think more and more he's just being groomed as Hillary's running mate.
You just joined rodguy, Mary Katherine Ham and me...now we are three.
I figured that Russert would be on a leave of absence until any legal issues with his false affidavit have been resolved. Surprised he is on the air today; if I was his boss, I would send him to his room, and make him write on a blackboard: I will not lie to a Federal court" 100 times, and then tell him he is suspended until he makes the appropriate amends regarding the persecution of Libby, of which Russert is a key player.
Well if he doesn't talk to them then in his mind they don't matter.
Yes, but even though she was undoubtedly clean, she had a speech impediment, therefore she could not have been classified as articulate and therefore didn't count. That's the bar that's been set by the smartest man in the Senate, Joe Biden, that allows all lefties to now acknowledge Obama as a "first."
Side note - I actually was on a flight with Shirley Chisholm when she was in Congress. We sat near each other at the back of an old 727. We talked for a bit during the flight (I was a high school kid from New York and she was in her second term) and I had the innocence to comment on the irony of her sitting in the back of the plane. She had the good graces to laugh and not take offense. She said that she liked the back as she could always find a place for her carry on in the overhead while the front overheads were always full. I've always booked seats in the back of the plane for that reason since then.
