A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day
Free Republic made its debut in September, 1996, and the forum was added in early 1997.   Over 100,000 people have registered for posting privileges on Free Republic, and the forum is read daily by tens of thousands of concerned citizens and patriots from all around the country and the world.
A Few of FR's Finest....Every Day was introduced on June 24, 2002. It's only a small room in JimRob's house where we can get to know one another a little better; salute and support our military and our leaders; pray for those in need; and congratulate those deserving. We strive to keep our threads entertaining, fun, and pleasing to look at, and often have guest writers contribute an essay or a profile of another FReeper.
On Mondays please visit us to see photos of A FEW OF FR'S VETERANS AND ACTIVE MILITARY
If you have a suggestion, or an idea, or if there's a FReeper you would like to see featured, please drop one of us a note in FR mail.
We're having fun and hope you are!

Welcome to TGIF at the Finest!   We hope you've been having as much fun as we have with our essays and/or spotlight on various FReepers. From the beginning, we've been kicking back on Saturdays and Sundays and simply reviewing the features of the week; our weekend threads now start on Friday and continue through Sunday. If you missed seeing any of this week's threads and want to say hello there now, just click on the link for that particular day. If you'd like to drop in and out of this thread today through Sunday, please feel free to do that also. One of us will try to be around to see the welcome mat is still out, put the coffee pot on, and maybe even bring fresh flowers for the table. : )

"Wear Red" Friday
You will soon see a lot of people wearing Red on Fridays. Here's why..... The Americans, who support our troops, are the silent majority. We are not "organized" to reflect who we are, or to reflect what our opinions are. Many Americans, like yourself, and all their friends, simply want to recognize that Americans support our troops. Our idea of showing our solidarity and support for our troops is starting Friday and continuing on each and every Friday, until this is over, that every red-blooded American who supports our young men and women, WEAR SOMETHING RED.

Word of mouth, press, TV -- let's see if we can make the United States, on any given Friday, a sea of red much like a home football game at a University. If every one of our memberships share this with other acquaintances, fellow workers, friends, and neighbors, I guarantee that it will not be long before the USA will be covered in RED - and make our troops know there are many people thinking of their well-being. You will feel better all day Friday when you wear Red! So let's get the word out and lead by example; wear RED on Fridays.

SUPPORT OUR TROOPS! WE LIVE IN THE LAND OF THE FREE, BECAUSE OF THE BRAVE. FOR US, THEIR BLOOD RUNS RED!! GOD BLESS AMERICA.
I received this in my email June 10th, 2006 - the author is unknown.
I am wearing red today and every Friday ~ Billie

Five Cs Or Two Gs

READ: Proverbs 30:7-9

The Lord will give grace and glory; no good thing will He withhold from those who walk uprightly. —Psalm 84:11 Young people in Singapore at one time aspired to have the five Cs. Cash in the bank. Career for the future. Car to drive. Condominium to live in. Credit card to travel with.

A recent newspaper report indicated that there is now an updated version of the five Cs: Connectivity to be tuned in. Choices, and the more the merrier! Cheek—doing things our own way. Causes, because it is hip to help. Consumers who spend first and pay later.

Instead of the five Cs, Agur, the writer of Proverbs 30, asked for two Gs from God: His grace and goodness. He sought the grace of God to "remove falsehood and lies far from me" (v.8). He didn’t want to fall into the trap of believing that corrupt principles, practices, and affections are acceptable.

Agur also asked for the goodness of God to provide what he needed—no more and no less (vv.8-9). He was concerned that poverty could cause him to become covetous and to disgrace God’s name. But he also realized how easily riches could pamper him and cause him to deny the Lord.

Which do you desire more? The temporary satisfaction of the five Cs or the rewards of God’s grace and goodness? Is your desire to honor God’s name above all?

Let us celebrate together,
Lift our voice in one accord,
Singing of the grace and mercy
And the goodness of the Lord.  —Sper

God’s grace is infinite love expressing itself through infinite goodness.

Sounds like the best plan under the winter conditions that y'all have up there. It's even cooler here than it was, but 40 degrees would seem like a heat wave to you, I am sure! LOL!

Why thank you, Lady! I just had to get on the Valentine's dress, though it is a little chilly. I guess pink is a form of red, right? :D

Well it hit 20 today and that felt warm compared to 3 with wind.

40, I'd be in a sweat shirt. : )

Absolutely! You can't have pink is the lighter value of red.

Brrrrr....I think I'll keep my 40! It's kinda humid, so it seems a little cooler than that...but nothing like 3 OR 20!

Staying by the fire sounds like an excellent idea for the weekend!

Very beautiful Meg. I feel like ordering roses on line now. LOL I love single petal roses too :) These are two of my favorite singles...
Dainty Bess ... reminds me of a clematis bloom

Sally Holmes.... Boy, can this rose produce millions of blooms at one time. Sometimes with pink and yellow blush :)

Cute pic! I wore my red for the troops today and also went to Red Hat's Luncheon! So I wore my red and purple! Had fun. Yesterday had a puny (?) stomach.
