DeLay: Clinton Poses Major GOP Threat
Playfuls ^ | February 8, 2007 | News Staff

Posted on 02/08/2007 12:23:44 PM PST by IntelliQuark

Former House Majority Leader Tom DeLay, a Texas Republican, says the GOP must energize its base or Hillary Clinton could be the next U.S. president.

He said Sen. Clinton, D-N.Y., has "built the biggest, most powerful coalition that I've ever witnessed in my lifetime."

DeLay told CNN he does not support the front-runners in the race for the GOP presidential nomination. He called Rudy Giuliani an obvious "leader" who may be able to win over some social conservatives. But, DeLay said he would not vote for the New York City mayor because he favors abortion.

DeLay also had dire predictions about the second White House bid by Sen. John McCain , R-Ariz., citing vigorous opposition to the Arizona Republican's championing of campaign finance reform.

She is much more of threat to our Constitutional Republic than she is to the GOP. The GOP is its own worst enemy and certainly not the bearer of the conservative torch....

Considering that the GOP is working hard to loose its base, this is rather funny.

"But, DeLay said he would not vote for the New York City mayor because he favors abortion."

It looks more like the threat is coming from short-sighted conservatives than from the Hildabeast. I'm anti-abortion as well, but when faced with the choice of either the anti-Christ or Rudy, you can bet I'm going with Rudy.

THIS is exactly how Hillary can win. Suppose there is no difference between Rudy and Hillary in say 3 issues, but there is a world of difference in how they will fight or not the War on Terror, why should conservatives want to choose Hillary who will get us all killed, by being weak on terror, not to mention her socialized medicine ambitions.

Not only are they working hard, they're working overtime. Just last night 7 Republican Senators sent the Rats a letter saying that they will now vote with them against the CIC and our troops.

Yes, very true. Just watching what is going on with the corruption in the adminstration about the DHS lying to Congress about the Border Patrol guards, their credibility is just about in the septic tank.

We know two things ----

1. Where the INACTION comes from.
2. Where the direction to corrupt (re: about the border and illegals) comes from.

Enough said.

The GOP is stuck between their base and the muddled middle who actually decide elections.

with 'friends' like Delay saying he wont vote for Rudy if there is just the choice between Rudy and Hellery the country is certainly lost! Sure hope he has the sense to clarify his comments and not add to the dilemna!

If Newt will run AND CAN BEAT HILLARY, then I am all for him.

But as far as I am concerned, the main criteria for the GOP nominee is someone who can beat Hillary.

(While the MSM is pushing McCain, aside from the fact that I detest him, he most definitely could not beat Hillary. She would make mincemeat out of him).

Also, since Hillary got into the race early, Republicans should start NOW to point out the truth about Hillary, everything from her LACK of qualifications -- being the wife of a president and being senator for a few years is not exactly high qualification for president, to her socialist intentions.

DeLay understands. Of course there are some people who will refuse to unite in order to defeat her.

Among those who like her, Hillary has the kind of "star" power that causes people to adopt her uncritically, apparently in the belief that she is going to give them exactly what they want, never mind the evidence. In other words, she is "all things to all people" without having to prove herself, because people project their hopes onto her. And she is willing to pander to this belief, because she knows it works for her.

This is the same mentality that has turned JFK into a demi-god of liberal adoration, even though he really was NOT that liberal by any standard of "liberal" from 1964 on. No need to look at what he actually did, just stare at his picture and worship his [distorted] memory.

If Republicans are going to take the approach that "I'm not going to vote for anyone unles they prove to me that they will do EXACTLY what I would do, if I were President", then they won't find anyone to vote for, and Hillary will waltz right in.

I could even vote for McCain if it were between him and Hillary.

Anyone have any suggestions as to who would be such a bad RINO that we would deep six our vote and throw the door open for Hillary?

We need to do some serious "culling" early in the cycle to make sure it never comes to that. Job one should be weeding out the phonies in the primaries....as opposed to getting stuck with someone like Specter.

If the abortion/gay marriage issue splits the GOP or causes GOP voters to stay home and as a result Hillary wins in 08, then the dems plan will have succeeded, and conservatives will get the government they deserve. I like Delay, but he needs to shut up and back whoever the GOP candidate is and convince the single issue simpletons to get on board. Cutting off your nose to spite your face is a failed strategy.
