He's Ready If You Are (Rudy Giuliani)

Rudy Giuliani will prevent a conservative crack-up.
Today, after very little effort, Giuliani is the frontrunner for the Republican nomination. Dick Morris is predicting a Giuliani vs. Clinton race in 2008. Yet some conservatives are dubious of the man who cleaned up New York, returned it to a vigor unimaginable from the 1960s through the 1980s, and then led New York and the country heroically through 9/11. Well, one knows a politician by the company he keeps, and Giuliani has around him the financial people who created the libertarian-conservative Manhattan Institute. He relied heavily on the Institute's policies while governing New York. He will rely on libertarian-conservative policy makers in his race for the White House and once there.

Why doesn't any of this libertarianism seem to be rubbing off on him? Perhaps there's a pill RINOs take to immunize themselves against the effects of rampant liberty.

Yes. If Bush had picked a younger dynamic VP, we would have a viable candidate now. Yeah? How's President Quayle workin' out for ya?

He certainly can not rely on this libertarian-conservative for support.
Considering his views and action on the second amendment alone, any libertarian or conservative should run screaming into the night.
Maybe Emmett meant "liberal-nonconservative"?

I don't think I've remembered to tell you:
I've had 6-7 freepmails in the last few days by people who are following this very closely and are closet Rudy fans. They don't want to take the grief the whining men are shoveling out and so they're playing it close to the vest right now, but they're rooting us on.

If Giuliani is frontrunner for pubbies, then 08 WH is just given to hildebeast.
I disagree. In fact, if anyone else is a frontrunner for the pubbies, then that would be handing the 08 WH to hillary (or another Dem). It's Rudy or bust for the GOP. Even with Rudy it would not be a sure thing. Don't underestimate the number of voters who will demand a change on top due to a Bush-induced aversion to the GOP.

[.. Maybe a Rudy/Newt or Newt/Rudy ticket combination would unite the Republican/Conservative party. ..]
Rudy is NOT a conservative.. else he could never be elected in New York City..
Better... Newt/Duncan Hunter.. or even Tancredo..

The only announcement I want from Candice Miller is the one that says she's running for the Senate in 2008 against Lenin, I mean Levin.

That's B.S., and you know it.
Here is the organization Newt founded dealing with health care:
Center for Health Transformation
Here is what actually occurred between Newt and Hillary:
The Reformer and the Gadfly Agree on Health Care
"As some of you may remember, I was a little bit involved in health care about 12 years ago," Clinton said, provoking chuckles from the former House speaker. "I still have the scars to prove it." Years later, Hillary now acknowledges the private sector's preeminence in health care reform; Newt endorses some federal mandates. Both praise preventive care and better patient management.

Rudy bashers have no clue just how bad NYC was and how much better he made it. He inherited the Koch and Dinkins mess of a decade in a half in the making and turned the city around in his first four years.

I can see it now, Rudy will be the republican nominee and some conervative will run as an independent and hand the White House keys to Hillary. So nominationg Rudy is a bad idea. Exactly

"So we can assume you never supported Ronald Reagan?"
I worked on Reagan's campaigns for governor and president. Although divorced, there was never anything in his past history of having an affair while married to Jane Wyman. They divorced in 1948, and he remarried in 1952.
Rudy Giuliani by contrast was deeply involved in an affair while still married to his second wife in 2000.
