BOSTON (AP) -- One of the men criminally charged after placing blinking cartoon advertisements around the city videotaped a police bomb squad removing one of the electronic devices, but did not tell the officers the object was harmless.

Surveillance cameras caught 27-year-old Peter Berdovsky videotaping officers removing what they thought was a possible bomb.

"That's what he does. He videotapes things. He's a videotape freelance artist. He got a call that there was a bomb threat near his house and he went to tape it," Prince said.

Is that someting like a sandwich artist?

He may be a performance artist. But he's also a dingy, self-absorbed hippie.

These guys may be nimrods, but it's been one hell of an effective marketing effort. Millions of people now know about the show, instead of a few dozen who might have gotten the reference from the LED lights.

I think CNN/Cartoon Network got every penny of its 2 million dollar fine in advertising exposure.

The little self-absorbed bastard had a duty to tell the police that it was not bomb. If nothing else, police officers had to go stand in traffic to shut down roadways. That is not without it's risks.

Just because the hippies don't understand it's wrong is not a reason to let them off the hook. Send him to jail where his cellmate can do his hair...and him.

He is going to be SO embarrassed when he grows up. And as far as the advertising goes, well, I thought the Cartoon channel was for kids; certainly its advertisors are aiming at kids. Did the Weekly Reader cover this? I don't know how many little cartoon-watching kids sit and watch CNN for hours at a time.

He placed the "device" three weeks before they were seen as a threat.

So no wonder he didn't figure out that it was HIS device the bomb squad was dealing with.

The cartoon in question isn't for kids - its for smelly slacker losers just like the guys who came up with this 'marketing' plan.

The sort who stay up past midnight to watch cartoons because they don't have jobs to go to in the morning.

Note: if you are thirty and still living in the basement of your parent's house, you just might be a loser.

Has anyone been discussing the fact that this little character image that was part of this so called Turner "Cartoon "Network" promotion is making an obscene gesture? i.e. giving the finger?

Isn't this a television network designed to appeal to kids? Why are they using a character giving an obscene gesture? The FCC should fine the hell out of these people for corrupting the morals of minors. It's no wonder this country is going to hell in a hand-basket fast. There's no moral authority. A large portion of this countries citizens morals are in the gutter.

Cartoon Network has a late night block of shows called Adult Swim where it shows non-kiddie animated fare. This show was part of that programming.

Turner Broadcasting is a cable broadcaster, not a public airwaves broadcaster. The FCC has no jurisdiction over their content.

Also, the gesture does not meet the legal definition of obscenity. It's rude, crude, vulgar and indecent - but not obscene.

After ~9PM "Adult Swim" comes on and it targets the young adult hipster crowd.

Have you ever walked up to the bomb squad to tell them what they are disposing of is not a bomb?

How about just walking up to a cop and telling him, the guy he is putting handcuffs on is not the criminal?

How about just telling the cop you are just taking pictures of the party for the school newspaper?

How about just telling the teller at the DMV that the person they are denying a license to is actually a citizen, and your neighbor?

The time and place is in court. I have done the second three, and I will never again, trust me. Don't believe me? Go try any of the above. Now grow some dreadlocks and go tell them.

If anything he has every right to film their absurdity, it may come in handy during his time in kangaroo court.

In order to be a hoax, wouldn't he have had to have the intention for it looking like a bomb? Don't string this dumb hippie up just because the police made a mistake and over reacted. You give them far too much power. Do they blow up every box van double parked? Last I checked those look a lot more like terrorist bombs than this lite brite toy.
