"AND SWINGVOTERS WILL LOVE HIM!"

And Democrats will probably come over as well. He got my vote tonight.

Great article Mia, thanks for reposting it.

Is anyone putting together a list of Rudy supporters now that George Will is on board?

Of course, Dick the toe sucker would shill for this statist, being part of the New York/Washington media axis of weasels.

I'm happy that I know longer watch those mental midgets on Fox News. At least the NY Post is entertaining once in awhile.

As I said on another thread, one has to be an American to hold the Presidency. Rudy is from New York, so he is disqualified. ;-)

Your # 58 is a most informative read on Guiliani, and his NYC accomplishments. I've harbored a Guiliani grudge since he dropped out of his senate race and virtually handed the U.S. Senate seat to Hillary, but I'm reconsidering. One thing for certain, voting for him would be a heck of a lot easier than voting for McCain

John McCain is a backstabber
Is responsible for McCain-Feingold

Rudy is too socially liberal and is open borders. But I prefer him over McCain any day of the week

Morris is echoing what's been said here all along: Rudy will appoint strict constructionists to the bench, which negates his stand on the social issues.

I have seen versions of this statement several times, but I don't recall seeing any basis for it. Could someone please explain the basis for such a prediction? It could make a difference to some of us if Giuliani is the nominee. Thanks.

A Guiliani-Gingrich ticket would, IMHO, be powerful, unifying ticket for the GOP.....

He said he appointed 100 judges in NYC, so he has a record. He also has a record of being a tough crime fighter, too. I hope he articulates a Republican vision for urban people, as they are the biggest problems.

Julie, you hit on a number of things that IMHO put Rudy at the top of the list:

Straightening out NYC -- it took a vision and true leadership to accomplish what everyone thought was hopeless. And he did it with conservative principles.

Great communicator -- imagine, after 8 years of W, having no fear of a presidential blunder during a press conference! During his time as Mayor, he was giving probably at least one press conference a day, and wowing the press all the time. One thing we know about the war on terror: it is going to take a GREAT COMMUNICATOR to rally the country to stay with this mission (and many other challenges). Who in the GOP field can hold a candle to Rudy?

How well he handled the crisis after 9-11 -- on the day itself, it was as if he substituted for the President. W did well, but Rudy was the on-the-ground leader and guy everyone rallied around. His personal involvement with the cops and fire fighters was inspiring and seemed instinctive... nothing phony about it.

Now a few things you didn't note: he cut taxes; he cut spending; he cut the welfare roles; he did innovative things (threatening to privatize certain government services if the agencies didn't get more productive and efficient); he supported school choice and vouchers; he pressed law and order at the local level and achieved miracles in NYC. Yes, his personal views on abortion rights and gay marriage violate my sense of what's right, but he also assures me that he'll appoint strict constructionists to the Supreme Court, so those social issues will hopefully be relegated back to the states where they belong. Reverse ROE and send it back to the States!

I don't consider Rudy a Reagan by any means, but as far as I can see, he's the most effective conservative leader we've had since the Great One. Despite the venom we see here on the FREEP for Rudy, I believe he will be well accepted by conservatives across the country -- and bringing back those Reagan Democrats we need for our political majorities. JMHO.

I plan on paying very little attention to politics at all. Then on election day, I'll vote straight R down the line and go back to sleep.

As a turncoat against the Clintons, Dick Morris must fear for his health if Hillary is elected and has access to all the powers in Washington Dc (including the dark side)

The RATS biggest fear is a Guiliani/McCain vs Hillary/Obama matchup.

Guiliani is a lot of things that Conservatives hate. He is also the one thing Conservatives love. A leader.

In a time of war, we need a leader. Out of all the candidates so far there is only one and that is Rudy.

If a Conservative leader appears, he will get my vote. However, for lack of that, Rudy is my guy. Preferably with Duncan Hunter instead of McCain on the ticket.
