Last evening, as I watched the Superbowl with my nine year old son, I became extremely annoyed at the MARS Corporation and their advertisement for Snickers which showed two guys locking lips. I can't even fathom why somebody thought that this would be a good advertisement for that particular product and why they chose to air it during this event, especially when they knew children would be watching. If their aim was to draw controversy in the hopes of increasing sales, then I sincerely hope they missed their mark. I hope that, instead, they lose sales because of their idiocy.
I called in and registered my strong disapproval this morning at 1-908-852-1000. (If you call, when you get the phone tree, just press "0")
Our family will not be buying MARS products ... Products that MARS makes/distributes: M&M'S, SNICKERS, MARS bars, Milky Way, Skittles, and TWIX.
Me too. I just called the 900 number and a recording says to check the number again. I called using 800 and a recording starts talking about a talk show. The number listed above isn't correct.
They weren't booing, they were saying "Moooovers".
Frankly, I just thought it was terribly tastless and very unfunny.
>> People will get outraged at the lingerie section in the Sunday paper but will say nothing about the sleazy XXX bookstore down the street. <<
That's a bizarre assertion with no grounding in reality.
they do always have the worst and raunchiest music show at halftime. Why not have someone really good like a country music star?
I did not like it at all.
Mechanics do not suck candy bars.
I thought it was silly and mildly funny.
Anyone seeing a pro-gay agenda there is really reaching IMHO.
They were playing on a common joke, which is men accidentally doing something "gay", and that the candy bar is so irresistible a guy would get that close to get a bite.
Silly and rather lame? Yes. Pro-gay? No.
Yes, but he sings and prances around like a San Francisco homo with a gerbil up his butt. Save it for Gay Pride Week. I like to hear America's anthem sung in a straigtforward and manly way.
Oops, make that Anheuser Bush.....
Some one said your comment was disgusting. Well yes, but it sure made a point about a disgusting commercial the disgusting lifestyle it was promoting.

That's a bizarre assertion with no grounding in reality. And even if it were true, maybe some people believe people should have freedom to do what they want, but they just don't want it crammed down their throats.
I did too. That was funny.
You mean, "That's not a pillow!"? ;)
Dude ... I don't care if you want to sound off about your your gloryhole days in the bathhouse. Just don't do it in front of my kids.
What's wrong with Prince?
"What was wrong with having Prince? He has more talent in his little finger than all the past Superbowl halftime stars combined."
I as waiting for the 'outrage' over Prince being the halftime entertainment. One of the best acts in any SB halftime shows. BTW, before the snickerphobes get bent out of shape, he ain't nowhere near 'Gay'.
Prince is a brilliant musician and like many highly-talented people he is slightly peculiar. His performance clearly wasn't lipsynched as he inserted "topical" comments about the rain that couldn't have been recorded and rehearsed so quickly. I wish he had sufficient time to spend another minute or two on the great "All Along The Watchtower" song by Jimi Hendrix that he covered as a portion of the medley. His guitarwork sounded great.

in my opinion, I thought every commercial as well as the half time show was about as laim and stupid and not funny as it could possibly get. What Ad Agency or agency's were responsible for these laim commercials???
Locking lips? Their lips barely touched.
Personally I did not find the commercial funny, but did not find it offensive or promoting some devious, hidden, gay agenda. It was just a bad commercial.
Save the protests and calls for something really disgusting and blatant, like the NYSlimes blaming the 'violence' in the commercials to the war in Iraq. Now THAT is disgusting.
Created by a Generation Y freak for Generation Z dolts, I suppose.
You'd think this group of ad folks "lost it" but that means they once "had it" which is obviously not the case.
The ad does have good name recognition, it a very NEGATIVE sorta way. I think I'll switch to another non-Mars candy bar.
