No, conservatism isn't dead.
No, Rudy isn't my first choice but neither is Sam Brownback although he offers the answer to all of what seems to be worrying you.
Bottom line, if we do not defend America it won't matter how strong we are on social issues.
First things first. Fight Terrorism! Defend this country! Those who can't do that should not ask for my vote.

Jim., conservatism is far from dead -- but for some luck-of-the-draw reason, the current crop of frontrunnners suck for our cause.
And it might not all be luck-of-the-draw. You predicted that GW Bush would be disasterous for conservatives, and perhaps you were right.

its not dead.
its part of a winning coalition. The US is a center/right country. But you have to read both words there: "CENTER RIGHT". Don't just read the second word.

"I love being a conservative. We conservatives are proud of our philosophy. Unlike our liberal friends, who are constantly looking for new words to conceal their true beliefs and are in a perpetual state of reinvention, we conservatives are unapologetic about our ideals. We are confident in our principles and energetic about openly advancing them. And at our core we embrace and celebrate the most magnificent governing document ever ratified by any nation the U.S. Constitution. Along with the Declaration of Independence, which recognizes our God-given natural right to be free, it is the foundation on which our government is built and has enabled us to flourish as a people. We conservatives are never stronger than when we are advancing our principles."Rush Limbaugh

We've taken 2 steps forward in the past decade and one step back in the past year.
A lot of Americans have become more acquainted with conservative ideas.

Would you accept a gay agenda/NARAL supporting abortionist gun-grabber as your party's savior against Hillary Clinton even if it means we abandon the pro-life, pro-family, pro-freedom of religion and pro-gun planks from the party's platform?
No. Years ago I worked very hard to see a very nice man elected as Governor. He turned out to be very much pro-abortion. I promiced the Lord I would never again support someone who believes it's okay for a woman to kill her baby.
And most likely ends any prayer of ever overturning Roe vs Wade or preventing gay marriage as the law of the land? And eventually leads to permanently ending any and all mention of God or prayer in the public square? And further erodes away the right of the people to keep and bear arms?
And it will eventually happen with a candidate desscribed above.
Will preachers speaking out against the gay agenda eventually become a hate crime in America? Will it soon become the law of the land that business owners must allow cross-dressing males to wear dresses in the office or face criminal/civil penalties like they do in San Francisco? Will man-boy "love" soon be accepted by the new American liberal society?
Probably, but Ill still be faithful to God and this Christian Nation He gave us.
Has the anti-God, anti-America, anti-commonsense and decency ACLU, NOW and NARAL organizations defeated conservatism?
Youd think so according to many of these Rudy fans. And they seemed thrilled about it.
Is conservatism dead in the Republican Party?
Only if we let it die. A candidate like Rudy might do it.
Is the conservative movement dead in America?
Not at all, and well move as the Lord guides us.
Is God dead to Americans?
NO, and He is Almighty. He is a gracious and merciful God, but also a just God.
Over 40 million babies dead since 1973, rampant homosexuallity, calling good evil and evil good..
I tremble for my country when I reflect that God is just; that his justice cannot sleep forever. Thomas Jefferson

This is nothing compared to the aftermath of the Goldwater v. Rockefeller fight and the 1964 election loss to LBJ. IMO.
Today citizens have ways of staying in touch and united against common enemies. Most Americans belonged to the other party back then. But the other major party is no longer the traditional, patriotic Democratic Party, it truly is a Rat Party run by people who have "moved beyond being Americans". IMO.
Thus today entities such as the ACLU, NOW and NARAL no longer are gatekeepers of information with the help of the old media. Even back then their ilk did not win.
Remember, a Republican won in 1968 and won 49 of the 50 states in 1972.

Witness
by Whittaker Chambers
Regnery Publ., 1952, 808 pages
This book was written in the depths of despair in a time when Communism seemed unstoppable and the Left, in defense of the Soviet spy Alger Hiss, was circling around Joseph McCarthy like vultures waiting for the kill. It was one of the darkest times for democracy.
Only recently, fourteen years after the collapse of the Soviet Union, has the West, threatened by the new enemy of terrorism, begun to rediscover the courage to assert confidence in its own values that had been gradually slipping away since the end of World War II.

(Shameless bump for one of the greatest conservative books of all time. And the review is very relevant in the discussion of where we are today.)

There will be a new party emerging, these two have merged into one, they have wasted our time and money.
Mark my words, real conservatives will start a new party.
Don't know what it will be called, but it is coming

"Unfortunately, I think Dick Morris is right: demographic shifts alone will spell the end of the Republican party as a major force in American politics within the next 20 years or so."
This will only be true if the Conservative message is either wrong or not communicated. The fact is that Conservative principles are good for everyone, without regard to whether or not they are of European ancestry.

No, true conservatism has not been defeated. But it has been made to look bad by the Christian Socialist nannystaters like Bush passing themselves off as conservative.

A steely determination to win the war on terror is really all that matters for the time being. Baloney. A nebulous war against a method of conflict, a state of mind, or an inanimate object (see "War on Terror," "War on Poverty," "War on Drugs," etc.) is a waste of time and a complete fraud.

RG will NOT appoint conservative judges - in your dreams. I disagree with that statement. Here is what Rudy said a couple of days ago.
Mayor Rudy Giuliani on Judges
SC GOP Executive Committee Meeting - February 3, 2007
On the Federal judiciary I would want judges who are strict constructionists because I am. I'm a lawyer. I've argued cases in the Supreme Court. I've argued cases in the Court of Appeals in different parts of the country. I have a very, very strong view that for this country to work, for our freedoms to be protected, judges have to interpret not invent the Constitution. Otherwise you end up, when judges invent the constitution, with your liberties being hurt. Because legislatures get to make those decisions and the legislature in South Carolina might make that decision one way and the legislature in California a different one. And that's part of our freedom and when that's taken away from you that's terrible. President Bush has the great model because I think as the President he did appointed some really good ones and both of them are former colleagues of mine - Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Alito. Justice Scalia is a former colleague of mine. Somebody that
I think Chief Justice Roberts is a great chief justice and he's young and he can have a long career and that's probably the reason the President and Vice President chose him. I think those are the kinds of justices I would appoint Scalia, Alito and Roberts. If you can find anybody as good as that, you are very, very fortunate.

the current crop of frontrunnners suck for our cause.Luckily, the current crop of Democrat frontrunners suck considerably harder.
They have nobody anywhere near as articulate or intellectual as Newt or with the git-er-done record of Giuliani or Romney.
Not that all these guys don't have major faults. I'm not sure I can support any of them at this moment, but they are all very impressive men.

There are freepers who have taglines criticizing Creationists. There are freepers who have taglines criticizing [Macro]Evolutionists. There are freepers who have taglines criticizing Global Warming. There are freepers who have taglines criticizing a number of things. And as they have not yet been banned, it seems that they have the privilege to air their opinions in their taglines, even if others find those same taglines offensive. The same goes with this tagline. So stop throwing a tantrum around every time you see it. You are free to put all of the relevant sources in your tagline and state your views on them.

We must find a way to appeal to the right of center voters who are not rabid about the cultural issues.
Many of these folks do not want to be associated with bible thumping, creationists.
